Easy check in. Never met the staff. Pristine, clean rooms. And plenty of room for the 3 of us. Great price. Baths were a bonus. Lots of positive bike-stuff there too (we were in a car though). Tokushima is a nice walkable city. With a relaxed vibe.

I had one day stay and this Minshuku is so beautiful in the mountains. The owner offers pickup service from station and helped me a lot and a hot pot style dinner gave me a family dinner vibe~ It was a pity that I had some work stuff to focus on during stay so I did not make it to visit the farms and have some chill, but this farm stay is absolutely a must in Tokushima mountains.

This place is great. It's nice to see people creating a business that celebrates some of the local history. The coffee, canele and pizzas are v good. We would highly recommend the desert pizza.

We absolutely loved staying with Shino-san. It was so peaceful and relaxing, with breakfast and dinner cooked for us every morning/evening (every single thing we ate was incredible), and sightseeing in the area during the days. We stayed on futons on the floor, ate cross-legged by the hearth, watched the sunset over the valley each night, frequented the 'sake shrine' 😋, made our own onigiri for our long travel day 🍙, and even helped cut wood for cooking rice and heating the bath (which overlooks the valley). Maybe it doesn't sound like much, but it was so special - it is so hard to describe! We've never been so well taken care of as we were with Shino-san! Our toddler came to love Shino-san, smiling quickly whenever he'd say hi, and by the end of our stay she would strut into the dining room and plop down on her chair to patiently wait for Shino-san's delicious food! It felt like home.

This ryokan is large house that is occupied by a Japanese family with small children, and they have set up a handful of guest rooms. That, in itself, is delightful to me. This town is about experiencing the old Japan, and that is also true with this house. The house has not been updated in a few decades, and the manual toilets are standard low-flush composting. I feel like I am experiencing Japan before its became a high-tech country. I value this experience, but if you need everything to be new and digital, this is not the place for you. Wi-fi is available in the common areas but I didn't have the signal in my room upstairs. The lovely walk from the train station takes about half an hour and is along the river and a bamboo grove, so it is quite enjoyable. The owner offered me a ride back. I was there in the middle of November and it was getting cold, since it's a drafty old house. The bed has a warm duvet and there is a heater in the room.
