Best part was sitting on the back deck enjoying the extraordinary view of the lake after a day out and having a cold refreshment. Will definitely stay at the Retreat when next in Taupo.

Delightful, immaculately clean with thoughtful amenities. We enjoyed sitting in the deck. There is a small fridge and microwave, toaster, kettle, and dishes, glassware, cutlery etc. and no other cooking facilities but we did not need them. Milk, coffee, snacks provided. Very nice bedding, and bathroom was clean and modern with toiletries provided. Washer and dryer in garage.

This was the most darling cottage in the most picturesque setting. Our host, Angus, was very friendly and accommodating. We loved going to the grotto on the property to see the glow worms. We had a person in a wheelchair and getting to the cottage was not difficult despite there being a couple stairs. Great hospitality; the friendliness shown by the owner; great breakfast and awesome stargazing in the night - what more can we asked for! Am glad that she extended her house for us for a night in her cozy home. The bedsheets were the fluffiest and cozy in the chilly weather, the mini kitchen pantry was neat and whatever you need for breakfast and to make your own coffee, were available. There were head torches for us to borrow to go for a nearby bushwalk (which was about 1km walk from the farmstay) in the late evening around 8.30pm/ 9pm to see the glowworms. The lodging was located close to Waitomo Caves so a 5 mins drive from the lodging will get you to it. Overall, we have an amazing stay and we were grateful! it was too bad that we didn't stay longer to enjoy a walk through the farm.
