It is the perfect nature paradise retreat. Multiple bungalows that perfectly mingle with the nature, very comfortable and clean. Well decorated inside and, and lots of details thought and executed by the owner. Tomas is the best, made me feel at home always and is very proud of what he accomplished with the place and it is noticeable that he wants other people to like it as much. Did a small walk to a secluded and beautiful beach nearby but it is also possible to walk to pico cão grande. Dinner was great and breakfast too. Outside showers make the perfect ending for a hot day. You have to stop there for sure! Thanks Tomas!

Amazing place that is conveniently located close to the airport and the capital. The hosts are super helpful and will make sure that your stay in the island is the best. I really enjoyed the dinners there in the terrace with a playroom that is nearby and the dogs and donkeys running around. Thank you for a great stay and I highly recommended it for a unique experience on the island.

Due to an unforeseen change of plans, we booked our stay just a few hours before arriving. Joao contacted me right away via WhatsApp to let us know he wouldn’t be there initially, but he made sure someone was expecting us and ready to greet us. This excellent communication continued throughout our stay. Joao’s hospitality was the standout—he was always available for anything we needed and genuinely cared that we had a great experience. He went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh fruit, bread and eggs, (and even soya yoghurt—which he had gone out especially to get for me as a vegetarian) Our room had a beautiful view of the sea, and we could hear the waves crashing as we fell asleep—I slept really well here. The location is in a village, and although we don’t speak Portuguese, the locals were very friendly. We even enjoyed a drink at the local bar and felt very safe the entire time.

Joao is such a great host and the place is just amazing. Everything is clean and comfortable and the views from the bungalow are just amazing. Also the food was delicious!!

Monte Mar was amazing. The chalets were beautiful. It was clean. The decor was great. The view from the veranda was spectacular. The food at the property was exceptional. The three-course dinner was phenomenal. The breakfast was extraordinary. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The property was a short walk to two beaches. My friend and I, we had separate chalets, liked Monte Mar so much that we stayed a second night. Great value for money too.
