It is difficult to describe how great this place is. Piece of heaven in the heart of jungle. Amazing rooms - basic but clean, bright and matching the place. Great surroundings - basically full jungle experience in the hotel) iguanas and other animals round you. Perk is boat shuttle (1 min) to airstrip and beach.

Lovely, very helpful staff. Full coach transport from San Jose and back, but hired a car and drove to the half way restaurant. Arranged by messaging ahead. Left the car there for free and picked it up on the way back k trough. 3 different tours included in the price. All meals included. Truly a wonderful experience.

The surroundings and the rooms were so comfortable, clean and very nicely furnished. The food was inexpensive, not really fancy but good food with plenty of choice. Pool / bar area was gorgeous. Loved the wildlife around too.

- the location of the bungalow in the jungle; - the interior of the bungalow; - the reception staff which was so nice and so supportive. We are a French couple traveling by ourselves. We had only booked the room, with no service. The reception staff has organised everything for us, and very sympatically. - the guide, Fernando, of our boat tour, very interesting and very supportive - the lunches and diners, which are simple, but very good and very healthy.

    The garden is beautiful, there are many different flowers and you can spot many birds in the trees. The green macaws are flying around quite frequently the same for the Toecans. The beach is next to the garden but first you have to cross the airport which gives a nice touch to the location. The hammocks are nice to chill next to the river and the swimming pool was also very nice.

    Very nice location amidst the jungle, with lots of wildlife around. We were even lucky enough to spot some Toucans when sitting in the swimming pool. Breakfast was very good and staff was friendly. If you exit the backyard, you are suddenly on the town's 'airport' and very close to the beach, which was a nice bonus for us.

    Having read reviews before going - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of our stay. The hotel Is in the middle of nowhere and 1.5 hour boat ride from a parking lot (also in the middle of nowhere). The rooms are comfortable, there are 2 great swimming pools. We saw lots of animals in the lodge. The food is buffet style and quite decent

    Everything, we stayed here 6 years ago and liked it . This time we loved it . They have now put in a swimming pool ( fantastic as you can’t swim in the sea) a bar upstairs lovely to seat in the evening , looking at the stars , Staff wonderful. Breakfast tasting. Would recommend this property.

    Super lovely small casa to stay over. The room was spacious, the beds comfy, a lovely terrace, a tap in the garden to clean your walking shoes if necessary. Delicous breakfast, nice small swimming pool to refresh after a hot day. And the most outstanding characteristic: the super friendly staff. They helped to organize all our trips and our transport to Puerto Viejo. Gerard eg is amazing.

    We had a perfect stay at El Icaco. Very welcoming staff, we had a room on second floor with AC that was perfect. We enjoyed ++ the swimming pool since it’s not allowed to go swim in the sea. Breakfasts were also good 😊
