We were looking for a peaceful, quiet retreat in the countryside to unwind and enjoy great food—and that’s exactly what we found. The location is quite remote, so the only way to get there is by car. We highly recommend renting a car or using your own, as relying on taxis can get expensive. There is ample parking available, with the added bonus of solar panels covering the parked cars. The staff were incredibly friendly, spoke excellent English, and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in a Double Room with a Terrace. In addition to the main entrance, the room had its own private entry through a gate. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the air conditioning actually worked, which is a rarity in many hotels. The room was a lovely mix of old-world charm and modern amenities, with the original flooring from the monastery adding a special touch. The only downside was the small bathroom, and the shower had a slow drain, but it didn’t detract too much from the overall experience. Breakfast was simple yet delicious. While the variety wasn’t extensive, everything we had was fresh and satisfying: scrambled eggs, homemade polpette, flans, Sicilian pastries, and cakes. You could also order eggs to your liking, along with freshly squeezed grapefruit and blood orange juice, and any coffee you wanted. We dined at the hotel for both lunch and dinner, and while the menu was small with similarly-sized portions, the quality and flavor were exceptional. However, note that there are no snack shops or stores nearby, so it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and water if you plan on staying on the property. Although we didn’t use the pool because it was still a bit too cold, it appeared to be a good size, albeit shallow. The surroundings were incredibly tranquil, with fields of olive and citrus trees, vines, and even some animals like bees, chickens, tortoises, and cats.

Casa Calipso is a extraordinary place. You can get the room with view on the sea which is very nice and cosy with beatiful view - truly an Sicilian experience. They have a pool and sits in the backyard, so you can also rest up in the back by the pool and have a little chat with the owner - Mr. Roberto who is an golden example of welcoming and warm owner of a hotel. We were welcomed on high standard. Our stay was rememberable and we'd been enyoing it there every moment. Highly recommended!

A very well renovated residence, in a somewhat shabby neighborhood, offering 4 rooms for guests and a pleasant outdoor common seating area. There are no staff on-site but are very responsive to a WhatsApp message. In room coffee/team making facilities and pastries were plentiful plus a nice coffee machine in 'reception' was adequate for 'breakfast'. We booked a departure taxi ( to the contact via WhatsApp ) which was on-time and no-fuss. There is a good pizza place within ten minutes walk ( Sant'Agata Pizza ) and for dinner on two occasions the well established La Griliata, again within ten minutes walk. The neighborhood felt quite safe for walking after dark.

It was the owner who lives on sight that makes this place so special: from serving us espressos in the morning to making us Campari spritz’s after a long hot day, Massimo made sure we felt welcomed and pampered. Him and his wife also gave us some nice tips in the area. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, we could jump in the heated pool any time if day, and it was just two steps from our room.
