Sama Retreat is an absolute gem of a place. The grounds are huge with lovely gardens, and the stunning beach is only steps away. All of the staff were brilliant, welcoming and friendly. There are two choices for breakfast - western or Sri Lankan, we tried both and they were delicious and plentiful. The spa is amazing and I was very impressed with the two treatments I enjoyed there -a facial and a massage. Extremely professional spa staff in a very clean, hygienic and beautiful setting. The sounds of nature and running water was the best sound back drop I have ever experienced during spa treatment, and who would have thought a stint in the steam room after the massage would be so magnificent! We booked Sama Retreat as a treat for my birthday and we are very glad we did. What a relaxing and peaceful way to begin our tour of Sri Lanka. Thank you :)

Beautiful complex, super clean and very well equipped. Super clean and huge Pool and just 4 or 5 minutes walk to the Beach The family (Sakun and his wife Nimmi) are so warm and accommodating! We felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay with them very much! The massages were wonderful and requests regarding the food (spicy or mild etc.) are met with great care! We didn't want to leave and would come back anytime!

How can I even start… all the members of this family are literal angels. They’ll take care of you, show you around, make sure you’re never hungry, and give you the best possible experience. I was so lucky to meet them at the beginning of my trip; I ended up staying way longer than planned and even spent my birthday with them and we organised a trip together some time later. At this point, they’ve become family to me. Their property is located in a beautiful and tranquil area; if you like being close to nature and want an authentic Sri Lankan experience, this is the place. The rooms are well-kept and tidy, spacious, and cosy. There’s an adorable dog and lots of visiting animals, even parrots, who feed near the property’s gate every morning. Shamaylie, with the help of her daughters, cooks home made, healthy and very tasty meals, made from the local ingredients. The family will make sure that they offer you the food you like. I recommend to visit the Guesthouse regardless if you’re travelling solo or in a couple. You will always be treated with love, warmth, and generosity. Wik xx

This place is a little gem. I enjoyed my stay at The tree of life resort. I was well taken care of by all the staff. The room was comfy, clean and stylish. The food was delicious and the pool was refreshing. This resort would suit groups. You could easily book the whole resort out as it only has 6 chalets. I totally recommend this place, and I'm looking forward to returning.

    Wow wow wow, what a stunning beachside property. We knew it was wellness focused (which my wife loved - especially the massages and sauna!) but there was so much more to this unique property like enjoying a cold drink by lovely pool or relaxing on the deserted beach. The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and well thought out with a private veranda. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

    Nice comfortable rooms with quality furnishings. Sea view and a short walk to the beach. Nice balcony with sea and garden views. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful. Location was good although it was a good walk from any major development. Pool was nice although we only stayed one night so didn't get to use it.

    Really lovely accommodation. Big rooms. Clean. Gardens and pool lovely. Beach close but a little walk to a place safe for swimming. We were the only guests the night we stayed so was like being at a private villa! Ate a lovely dinner and lunch here too as not much else close by. Kindly let us hang out until we had to leave mid afternoon. Recommend we go to the Galbokka Sea Turtle Hatchery - amazing! was very impressed with the ethics having been so disappointed by the place recommended in the guide book.

    Beautiful villa, in an excellent location close to the beach. Quiet spot to relax, great pool, super friendly staff who helped us to see turtle coming in to lay eggs at night. Everyone took pride in the hotel and looking after guests. Gorgeous garden..couldn't be more helpful

    Lovely swimming pool, good and quiet air conditioning, great menu at the hotel’s restaurant and fairly priced. The hotel owner also took us to look for turtles laying eggs in the evening and we managed to see one!
