We had stayed there before re 14 years ago. It did not disappoint. Very comfy relaxed place in ideal location. Very friendly staff ( they did washing for us at no cost) and wonderful breakfasts. They are happy for you to bring take away meals in and provide plates etc. lovely atmosphere in a historic setting.

Fabulously equipped with everything you would need for a self catering break, although the location is great for restaurants and cafés. John's communication was great and he made us feel so welcome when we arrived. Great location for the lake with a beautiful view of the Mountains.

Comfortable beds and nice linen and towels. Tea, coffee, bathroom products in the room. Check in easy with key box. Nice breakfast and friendly owners / staff. There are places to eat, bars shops locally. Local park. It’s away from the busy part of Windermere, in walking distance about 15mins

The Quaysiders Lakes Resort - Quaysiders Club is located on the shore of Lake Windermere at Waterhead, which is a short walk from the village of Ambleside. Rooms were beautifully and comfortably furnished, with all amenities required for a quiet weekend away. The facilities are impeccably clean, tidy, and well maintained. It was wonderful returning to a warm room at the end of many a cold, rainy, and blustery day. Kate, the general manager, went above and beyond with ensuring we got the keys even after the reception was closed -- we were very grateful to her for that. Location is excellent, just a stone's throw from the waterfront and with excellent food options nearby.

St John's Lodge is an award-winning guest house situated between Windermere village and the Lake at Bowness Bay. We had such a wonderful stay at this lodge! The place is very cozy, spotless, and clearly well cared for. Since it’s run directly by the owners, the service feels personal and truly superb. The location is excellent—just a few minutes’ walk to both Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere town, making it very convenient. One thing that really stood out was the thoughtful touches: complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies, all refilled daily—something you don’t usually get at hotels. We booked this for our advance wedding anniversary and were greeted with a sweet little surprise, which made our stay extra special. We only paid a small amount for an additional chocolate treat, which was absolutely worth it. Breakfast was also fantastic, with plenty of options to choose from. You can really feel the love and care Rich and Ada put into running their lodge—it makes all the difference. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Lake District!
