I could write an essay about the cōmodo and the way it exceeded my already pretty high expectations — I discovered it on Instagram last year before it opened, and decided to spend a few days in Austria this summer basically just to go there. First impressions go a long way, and on arrival the exceptionally friendly staff made us feel immediately welcome. These people really will accommodate any request you have, they're so good at their jobs. Special shoutout to the man on the reception desk (from Madrid) and the blonde lady working the breakfast shit who were really wonderful and so genuinely friendly. But let's rewind — the cōmodo is located up a steep hill quite a way from the train station (25-30 minutes walk), so if not arriving by car you might want to book a taxi. We walked and arrived pretty sweaty. But the upshot of that is that the views are *incredible*. If you have a room with a valley view like ours, you literally have a 180 panorama from your balcony and it's truly breathtaking, especially in the morning when the clouds roll over the Alps, and at night with the town below lit up. The vista alone is priceless. I was drawn to the cōmodo for its design aesthetic, which recreates plush 1970s living spaces with vintage sofas and warm mood lighting in the bar and reception. The attention to detail is pretty incredible. It's a great space to relax in. The restaurant is chic too, and the rooms really are fabulous, right down to the custom rugs (replicating the mountain scapes of Bad Gastein) and the green-tiled en-suites. The best compliment I can give it is that, having stayed in quite a few Alpine hotels this summer and last, the cōmodo is the only one in which I could happily spend an entire day without leaving. There's nothing clinical about it, relaxing there is effortless, the pool, gym and sauna have been constructed to the highest quality, the breakfast is sensational, the sundeck a seductive way to kill an afternoon.

The food was superior. This is haute-cuisine. It's definitely worth the price but probably too fancy for my children who are more than happy with wiener schnitzel and frites. The buffet is phenomenal and the attention from wait staff was incredible. Every evening mealtime was an event and I enjoyed every mouthful. My children loved the pool and the play room. Thank goodness, too, for the TV which meant my children could happily watch Paw Patrol (German dubbed).

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this mountain hotel! Located in a stunning natural setting, the place offers a spectacular view of the alpine landscape – the kind of scenery that takes your breath away every morning. The room was a true oasis of relaxation. The fireplace adds a warm, cozy atmosphere, perfect for chilly evenings, and the in-room bathtub is pure indulgence – ideal after a day spent outdoors. The apartment in the annex building is located in a separate building called Centerhouse Wagrain, which seems to be new. Check in is done via a self check in terminal near the entrance of the building. We were able to enter the apartment 30 minutes earlier than we selected. The apartment was small but equipped with everything needed for a 3 day stay. The bathroom is quite spacious. Ski room is located on the ground floor and is very easily accessible from the outside of the building. During our stay there was a lot of free parking spaces under the building or in it's vicinity. Location of the accomodation is perfect for visiting Wagrain city centre and is also in a walking distance (5 minutes in ski boots) from the gondola.

Our stay at the Nesslerhof was absolutely wonderful, with warm hospitality and a real sense of care from everyone we met. The spa area was incredible, the food was outstanding, and the rooms were beautiful with super comfortable beds. A big shout-out to Elias in the restaurant, whose friendly service and spot-on wine recommendations made our dinners extra special. We can’t wait to come back. Beautiful surroundings. An excellent place for summer hiking. With the Hochkönig card you receive at hotel's reception, you can use all the cable cars in the area, enjoy the beautiful views, sample local cuisine, and get some exercise. We didn't eat out much as accomodation had a very well equipped kitchen. Public transport was punctual and free with a Sommer Card provided by our hosts. All lift passes that we used were free also. The only cost was a booking fee for getting up to the Schladming Galcier. (PREPARE TO QUE FOR THIS ONE). Be aware that shops are closed for religious holidays etc.

A village in beautiful scenery that lacks something. Accessibility of services (hiking, lifts, restaurants) was a bit confusing. Many services did not have clear English instructions/price lists/online shops. The Tyrolean region summer card seemed to give you a much wider range of services than the Salzburger region.

Bad Gastein is amazing alpine village. The views of Tauer mountain ridge are amazing. There are many options how you can spend your free time - spa, skiing or hiking. I've been visiting Bad Hofgastein for 12 years in the summer holiday, and with every visit it gets a bigger space in my heart. Plenty of memories, plenty of relaxation, plenty of beautiful and peaceful sceneries, and every year people are being nicer and sweeter. The town keeps developing and renovating that can be noticed in every visit.

One of the most beautiful places on this planet. Easy to get around with the Ramsau am Dachstein Summercard and the bus and gondola systems. Loved the gondola to the top and the Sky walk, the Stairway to Heaven and the Stairway to Nothingness. Also liked Rittisberg and its attractions such as the Flyline, toboggan and High Ropes. The Go Karting down 7 kms of the Planai mountain was also fun

A nice little town with history.

A nice little town with history. The city walls and towers are still there to see. You can walk around the old city center and read about the history of the town. There are several restaurants and café. One could go to a cinema or go listening to the music, but this is to be checked in advance. Hiking in the mountain forests or cycling - this is what you do here. There are downhill ski routes, but we were in summer and could not say anything about these. Within an hour of driving you can reach popular touristic places around, like Dachstein, Hallstadt, Pongau or Salzburg.

Gorgeous view of mountains, great place for nature-lovers, you can spend there some quality time both in winter & in summer. Hallstatt, Zell am See, Dachstein are only 1 hour drive from Wagrain. Be aware of toll roads & tunnels (above the motorway fee). If you are travelling with kids, they will enjoy the Hermann Maier Freizeitpark in Flachau (ca 15-20 mins drive from Wagrain). You should check out the opening schedule of supermarkets and restaurants, eg. after 9 PM, you might not find any open places or restaurants could have their own break days.

Great base city for traveling around Salzburg region.

Great base city for traveling around Salzburg region. We have small kids and it was perfect for our kind of trip. There are various pharmacies and supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants, clothing stores, even a little market on the weekends, and just great facilities all around (including a playground for kids).

We were there for a winter sky holiday.

We were there for a winter sky holiday. Location is very good - not too far from our country. Slopes are exactly what we need - red-blu, with fast lifts and not crowded of people even on a pick of Christmas period . All the area is a great value for money and we will definitely come back. Apreski bar at the slope next to the gondola is super party place after ski and we spended there our evenings with much emotions. We visited also Therme and it was a great experience- at this time there was a laser show and disco party - great experience for any ages. At the center we found some good restaurants and pizza places for dinner. Our stay was too short for more but we will come back to continue..

Schladming is not interesting place, but the surroundings - yes. You can find a lot of attractions like ferrara, wander wegs, cycle routes, even rafting and places obligatory to visit: Dachstein Glacier, Planai, Reiter Alm (all supported by lifts). There are some places from the category "must see" like Riesach waterfall or Silberkar Gorge.
