We visited the Hôtel de la Poste during the famous Tour of Flanders and were warmly welcomed. As all the guests seemed to be racing cyclists, breakfast time was moved to an earlier time so that everyone could fueled themselves with food and coffee prior the race - absolutely perfect service, super friendly, and very understanding. Merci ❤️ Parking is available too. The hotel and the room are lovingly furnished. Everything was great. Absolutely recommendable.

Very little not to like. Extremely helpful and charming staff.. Breakfast wad excellent with cold meats cheese smoked salmon, freshly baked patisseries and scrambled eggs with cheese and lardons. The breakfast room was a modern spacious extension The room was very comfortable. Bathroom was modern with shelving. A lift made access straightforward - a real plus point for a smallish hotel. Ath itself was a surprise. A small town with a vibrant centre, Grand Place, plenty of bars and restaurants. We found a parking 50 yds from the hotel. Between 5pm and 9am no charge. If you are going to the fabulous Pairi Daiza zoo a great place to stay at 20 minutes journey by car.

I liked everything! Staff is briliant, room is spacious and clean, breakfast amazing. The restaurant is very nice with excelent choice of good food. The hotel is located next to an engineering marvel — an elevated water canal, where you can take a walk and admire the surrounding scenery.

Really nice, clean, modern and well layed out holiday village with beautiful holiday chalets. Well maintained, close to the lakeside. Easy parking next to chalets and chalet itself was large, comfortable, well equipped. Air conditioned, good kitchen and own terrace / outside table. Good sized bedrooms, comfortable beds, great shower. Highly recommend.

No taxis at the railway station 'security'.

No taxis at the railway station 'security'. You go online for one and the then meet up under a big advert on the other side of the canal. Difficult to find places to eat. The Charleroi airport 'South Brussels'/Ryanair is famously dreadful. I would never use it again - there is a proper one in Brussels. Fortunately the hotel advised us to get there 3 hours early. Taxis can't reach the front door - 'security'. The time was needed. Inside was scary, like being in a moving unhappy football crowd. We got back, just.

We went to St.

We went to St. Symphorien cemetery and also various museums. I have an interest in Mons because of my grandfathers involvement there on the 23rd August 1914 when he was wounded and taken as a POW. It has a lot to offer visually and historically and I found the people to be very friendly on the fives times I have visited the city. There are some great restaurants in the square and we ate around there regularly.

The room was comfy and good.

The room was comfy and good. I had the cleaner breathing down my neck cause I checked out right on 10am. This place lacked atmosphere, and the breakfast wasn't great.Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

what a nice city, very clean. lots of opportunities to visit...

what a nice city, very clean. lots of opportunities to visit museum, restaurant. We also made a tour with city guide that was very pleasant. we discovered the beautiful cathedral. Also the region is very nice to discover by bicycle. But prepare to be "out in the blue", not many shops, restaurants in the neighborhood.

Perfect location for visiting Pairi Daiza. Kids are tired after long day in zoo, so then it is convenient if you have a location close by. City center of Ath looks also nice for a stroll, but we did not do this because we had not enough time left for this

Lac de l'Eau d'Heure is a pleasant spot for a few days' vacation, it has a lot of activities for kids and adults alike. There are some beach areas that are nice. Easy to cycle around the lake and there are some good restaurants to choose from which are within easy reach with a bike.

Nice small country town with new industrial facilities kept out of town. Nice farming country landscapes. Highways nearby (N7, E429). Multiple great and casual eating facilities and new grocerystore nearby. Fifteen min. to Paira Daiza (largest zoo in all of Europe), 45 min. from Brussels and airport, 25 min. to Tournai/Doornik.

Charlerois not an obvious tourist destination, as it really is a struggling city. But the upper town with the art deco town hall and the main church on an octagonal square has the feel of slightly surrealist film set. One can have a nice stroll through city, exploring its different layers of time and the life of the inhabitants with their very mixed heritage. And if you are inclined to adventures of the everyday, you will enjoy this city.

A very decent destination for a weekend in its own right, it can also serve as a base for things like battlefield exploration (Waterloo, the WW1 Western Front, some of Marlborough's campaigns). If you choose to make it a base for car trips, remember to set your SatNav to "avoid motorways" - it's beautiful countryside if you stick to the smaller roads. I detected no 'edge' to the place at all, no bad behaviour, no vagrants or beggars. This matters since it's a lovely place to explore entirely on foot. The people were, without exception, friendly and helpful. The food is excellent, as is the beer, but this is Belgium after all.
