Amazing stay for a birthday, felt welcomed from the start. We were allowed to leave our bags before the room was ready, Basel city card was prepared prior to arrival, the bags were delivered up into the room for when we checked in. There was a kitchen section on each level with good facilities like kettle, coffee, tea and a fruit basket. Everything felt detailed and we were well looked after. Very organised, we were pleased. Wish we could stay longer!

The staff was beyond amazing, extremely understanding, friendly, and helpful. The room was spotless. The retractable electric blinds made the room pitch black at night, which was perfect for sleeping. Thoughtful touches like an espresso machine and water waiting in the room. The highest-quality towels I’ve ever seen in a hotel. Excellent location, public transportation is right nearby, and the city center is just a 15-minute walk away.

Super hotel! Great room decor - purple ceiling, light green walls, wood floor, black cupboards and bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Friendly efficient staff. Breakfast with yummy French toast made with sour cream and fresh berries. No real restaurant but they can serve a selection of light snacks including delicious flammkuchen. Amazingly quiet despite the busy location. A bit out of the way with no recommended restaurants nearby but with a tram stop right outside and well worth the slight inconvenience - and they compensate by giving a free tram and bus pass for the duration of your stay. Highly recommended!!! AND they have bicycles you can use for free and free coffee, tea and cakes (almost) all day!!

I had a delightful stay at this hotel. The room was warm and spacious, providing a cozy retreat. Its prime location was incredibly convenient, near the train station and just a 15-minute walk from the city center and Christmas market. The staff were exceptionally friendly, offering vouchers for free public transport and discounts at museums, which was a lovely touch. They also allowed us to store our luggage after checkout. The breakfast area, reminiscent of a scene from Harry Potter, was beautiful and atmospheric, making for a perfect start to each day. While the food variety was limited, it was tasty. Overall, it was a wonderful experience – I would gladly stay here again.

If you’re visiting during Christmas time, choose Motel One as it’s right beside the Christmas market. Location is superb as the tram going to almost anywhere is across it. Ultra clean and comfiest bed of all.

Basel was a nice surprise.

Basel was a nice surprise. A lot of old world charm, great traditional bakeries and coffee houses. The transportation is super with trams and buses running frequently. It felt large enough without being touristy. The fine arts museum is top notch h with some great artists represented.

A great base to have when exploring Switzerland. Basel is full of history and has one of the best local history museums I've seen. One could spend the whole day in the Basel Historical Museum. From the Bronze Age to modern times, this place has it. Various restaurants and all types of shopping dot the Old Town area. The transportation system(city trams and trains) is on time and efficient. We explored Zermatt and Lucerne, while keeping a base in Basel. The international airport has easy access from downtown.

Basel is a very nice city and definitely worth visiting.

Basel is a very nice city and definitely worth visiting. Make sure to hire a bike, go along the Rhine and visit 3 countries in just a couple of hours. The Markthalle is a must. However, everything is pricey.
