we had room service breakfast ...brilliant. Everything was just lovely. So helpful. Free travel card and discounts to attractions. Lovely position almost on the lake. Staff delighful. The most amazing suite with two of everything, two TVs, two sinks, two rooms, two toilets, two double wardrobes, two sofas, two tables, two balconies and even two big proper keys, with those old fashioned tassles. Old lovely hotel with new ideas. so good, so good, so good!

The views are spectacular. The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I had an upgraded bedroom which was very spacious and really comfortable. Location is perfect - in the centre of town right across the road from the train station and overlooking the lane. The complimentary hot drinks, popcorn, and sweets in the lobby were a welcome touch. I will be staying here again when I return to Montreux.

Beautiful, old epoch-style hotel on the lake, Great location, Rose - the wonderful lady at front desk, was so nice, and always willing to help! Pretty outside terrace on the lakeside promenade! So glad we stayed here!

Monteux is an exceptional place. we visited the Christmas...
Monteux is an exceptional place. we visited the Christmas markets and had a day out at Gstaad. Boats were not running, but it was winter, so we knew that. We took the MOB to Gstaard, train was excellent - Gstaard exceptional for a few hours visit.
We decided to go and walk through the cobbled area of Old Town Montreux, but thee was nothing there -nice view when we go to the top, but nothing interesting on the way up.

Vevey is a lovely town on Lake Leman.
Vevey is a lovely town on Lake Leman. There is a very nice old town and a beautiful promenade along the lake. We were there mainly to visit the Christmas market in Vevey, which is not so big, and the Christmas market in Montreux which is very big.

Take the time to explore the shops along the Grand Rue.
Take the time to explore the shops along the Grand Rue. I especially enjoyed the La Consomm market which sold local products, and a well organized second hand shop on the western end of the street. Unfortunately the Paper museum was closed due to holiday while we were there. The balloon museum was small but interesting, especially the little area with videos telling the story of the Breitling orbits.

Carry a map/guide when visiting places of interest / shops. It's easier to get around with a friend and to travel with a taxi. Trains are available, but mostly when visiting areas nearby or larger locations. If you are not used to a cool to cold climate, take some warm clothes, especially if you are going to go hiking up the mountains - it can get pretty cold. Nearby attractions include Gruyères Castle, Gstaad, Glacier 3000 and especially Vevey, the closest area where you can experience Lake Geneva.

The Community of Veytaux is at an excellent location towards the east end of the Lake of Geneva. Although the community is small, you can do a lot from here.
The Chateau Chillon is in the political community of Veytaux. The chateau is impressive; and its visitors can learn a lot about the history of this region of Switzerland.
Further east, you can visit Villeneuve and can take a steamer boat cruise on the Lake of Geneva. - The Swiss Train Pass helps to save a lot of money when you use the trains, the boats, the gondolas, the busses, etc. throughout the country.
West of Veytaux is Montreux. You can enjoy the lovely community of Montreux alongside the lake, go up the Roches de Naye and enjoy the beautiful view over the Lake of Geneva, take trains in diverse directions (e.g., Gruyère, for the cheese factory tour, maybe combined with a tour at the chocolate factory of Caillier, the Golden Express yo Interlaken, etc.).
If you like train traveling, you can easily travel to Geneva and see the old town, visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, go up to Brig and see its old town or visit Briggerbad and its thermal bath and waterpark, or even go up to Zermatt if your an early bird and go upon the Gornergrat or up on the Small Matterhorn.
Veytaux is a place to stay at and see; and, it can "base camp" to see many more places in the greater region.
Just have the right train pass so that you can easily use the public transport network and comfortably travel to different sites of interest.
Eating out and enjoying your companionship while being served a good meal is possible as well.

Great location to explore the Swiss Alps.
Great location to explore the Swiss Alps. Magnificent scenery, "a postcard at every turn!"
We visited in early December and they had had snow.
Would definitely recommend a trip on the Mont Blanc express to Chamonix. As well as a trip to Glacier 3000, both offering stunning views of the Alps.
A car is a must to appreciate the location.

The castle was an extraordinary experience. It brings us out of our common sense place.
Wonderful view at front side terrace of big tower, we enjoyed our evenings there.
Peaceful morning breakfast at our back terrace, surrounded by trees, perfect place for morning yoga meditations.
Beautiful room, large, a kitchen supported staying longer at the place. A nice table inside was great for the rainy days.

Montreux is a beautiful place to visit. There was a good amount to do when visiting for 3 days. Beautiful walks, and the people appear to be very kind. However it is very very expensive for basic things, there wasn’t a great amount of places to eat.

beautiful, tranquil town of Vevey is a pleasure to visit- we landed in Geneva and drove to Vevey that morning and we just loved our visit. We could have stayed much longer. Terrific restaurants, the village and shopping and walking the lake - just wonderful.

A lovely little town in a superb Alpine setting.
A lovely little town in a superb Alpine setting. Outside often the loudest sound is the distant clangour of cow bells. Everyone there is really friendly, there are good options to eat out, the local trains give access to some great places, and if you stay more than one night (I think) you get a Pays d’en Haut discount card for reduced entry to various places (including the wonderful L’Etivaz cheese cellars) and free travel on local trains and buses.
