We got a double room with balcony in the third floor. Checking in was fast and pretty easy, everything was in order and everything was crystal clear. We were actually surprised they take cleanliness very seriously and do a thorough clean every day (scrubbing floors, new sheets, new towels, new blankets). Aircon and TV work flawlessly. Breakfast was superb and quite big which I loved. There was a nice assortment of options including fruits, breakfast cereal, yogurts, beverages, soups, eggs, traditional sausages, arepas, bread… quite the assortment for real! This is a very quiet neighbourhood and it’s just a block away from the beach. There’s the Zazue mall at walking distance which has plenty of things to do and visit. The hotel even provides beach tents at a cheaper fare than the guys at the beach. You’re even welcomed to bring your own snacks and store them in your mini bar. High ceilings (which I personally love). The staff was super friendly and easy to reach at all times. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Extremely pleased. No hidden fees. Read some regular reviews in Google and I was quite worried but this place ended up exceeding by far any of our expectations. Best hotel stay so far. The rooms are large, cool and airy, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The hotel has 3 pools, a sky bar with music, food a good bar and fantastic views. The restaurant has really good choice of good food that is served in generous portions, breakfast is very good too. We booked for bed and breakfast only but the meals were very good value. Our time in Santa Marta/Rodadero/Minca was nice, although we did not get the full experience of "where the mountain meet the sea" that we were expecting. We did not take a day trip to the national park because yellow fever vaccinations were required for entry. The beaches in the area are okay, though not outstanding. Guachaca was a nice tiny village to stay in with proximity to both Buritaca and Costeño beaches and Tayrona park. It's easy to catch the bus to take you along the main road to these other towns and some hikes. Taganga offers a unique vibe but isn’t the best beach destination. Nearby beaches can be a better option, though they may get crowded too. Trash is a noticeable issue in Taganga, Santa Marta, and the surrounding areas, which could use more attention. In general, the online description of the trail is not accurate. You are crossing a mountain range.... steep ups and downs followed by a steep down to the resort. Cianaga seems to have a beautiful location near the beach and with views of the mountains. We went to a great restaurant called El Turisto Sadly, The city is very, very dirty with trash everywhere. Santa Marta is beautiful and really fun.
Santa Marta is beautiful and really fun. We stayed 4 nights, which felt just right. There isn't a ton to do there during the day, but we had two wonderful day trips. For those wanting to hike the Tayrona trail, this resort is close by the entrance of the park, and it is a blessing to have this place nearby after hours of walking in the heat. Not really what I have been told. I was expecting an “hippie vibe place” but more than hippie it is a bit unkept. Try to spend time in nature but avoid the waterfall everyone one goes to. It loses all the magic and silence of the place.Guest review byAilaItaly
