Couldn’t recommend this place enough! 10/10 The staff were so friendly and we felt sooo looked after, they went out their way to support us and make us feel welcomed. The hotel itself is gorgeous, so well thought out and the standards are really high. Breakfast was so yummy! They catered to vegetarians when asked which was really amazing, a good mix on the plate for breakfast.

We stayed in the Casita reina (the small house on the property). Everything was wonderful. The house is perfect for a couple. You got everything you need for cooking. Bed is comfortable. Missing a few hang hooks for the towel but otherwise all very comfortable. The pool is super nice. Kim, the host, is very accommodating and you ll received a warm welcome From her and her dogs. The house is about 10 minutes walk from the beach and a grocery store. 30 minutes walk from Puerto viejo so close enough to walk but far enough to enjoy a little peace and quiet if needed. Highly recommend:)

The rooms were private individual buildings nestled into the greenery. They had great decks with fans where you could sit privately listening to and watching the birds. The rooms were clean and in good shape. The main area where the pool was a great place to relax, swim and watch the birds and an iguana that seemed to live in one of the trees. The staff (Selva and Flora) were great and always willing to provide recommendations for activities, tuk tuk drivers, and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent with fresh juice and fruit every morning.

The rafting and stay at Pacuare Lodge is 100 per cent top-class and can be recommended to those willing to enjoy an adventure and stay in the rainforest. The rafting for us (a group of 8 friends, rafting for the first time in our life) was one of the highlights of our 20 days trip in Costa Rica. The guides navigated the rafts so easily that it did not really matter if we paddled as instructed or confused commands – were were safe in their hands and could trust the guides completely. The guides Moses and Walter were very professional, entertaining and great communicators; as well as very attentive and sensitive at the same time. Everybody should give a try to this experience! Much has been said about the Lodge and its surroundings in other reviews – the praise is well deserved. This place is unforgettable and the Lodge should be added to everybody‘s itinerary as the atmosphere and the feeling you get there is beyond words.

This hotel is completely utterly exceptional. We arrived to our stay to find ourselves with a free room upgrade- and what a room it was! It was something out of a movie- private pool and outdoor showers, incredibly comfortable beds. The staff are all exceptionally kind and helpful- they cannot do more for you. One member of staff in particular offered to give me a lift in to town to help me buy a phone charger. The food on site is excellent and affordable, the private beach is like something out of a movie. You are a 10 min cycle from the bustling town and several other beautiful beaches. I am a hotel designer and it is rare that I enjoy the look and feel of a property so thoroughly- I have no notes, this place is simply-stunning.

Casa Bohö it’s a beautiful jungle paradise two steps away from the beach, where we felt fully immersed in Caribbean culture. It’s my second time staying at this guest house and I can’t wait to be back. The rooms are simple with attention to detail. Cozy and loving atmosphere thanks to the staff girls who are super sweet and make you feel at home. We were offered interesting activities, and it is a pleasure to come home in the evening after a long day and have someone to chat with. The garden around the house is spectacular, there are sloths, birds of all kinds and 2 beautiful and cuddly cats.

Everything was great. The location is beautiful on the beach and only few minutes from the town center, there are different restaurants from walking distance. The staff was nice and very helpful, the rooms always clean. There are 3 pool including one facing the beach, it’s a very relaxing and boutique beach resort like environment. They offer a lot of free activities with awesome instructors. I loved doing the yoga classes and aquagym, but also discovering aerial yoga/gym. There plenty of sloths within the hotel precincts which makes the experience even more magical.

I really liked the atmosphere within the hotel and the staff is really, really friendly! I liked the breakfast and that there is everyday another breakfast special. The dinner is also really good and i LOVED the salad buffet. We watched two sloths in the hotel garden and it is a very safe place. The service is also amazing and i loved the terrace of our room!

Loved the entire area. Easy to walk around town.

Loved the entire area. Easy to walk around town. Best tour was an all day visit to Bribri family and chocolate making. Guide Braullio was the best for the wildlife refuge. Tasty Waves was the best bar with great trivia on Thursday night. Favorite beach was Playa Punta Uva. Great restaurants also in the area. Best place to stay with family or if you do not like the party atmosphere of other parts of Puerto Viejo.

Portuguese National Park is a wonder.

Portuguese National Park is a wonder. You can't get there by Car, there are no roads. Only by boat 1 hr up river or by plane. You are in the jungle with so many animals. I recommend staying in a lodge away from town, in the secondary forest area. Take a canal boat tour and enjoy the wild life. This is a must see in Costa Rica

This town was more quiet and while there were tourists it didn't feel over run with them. We were there at the end of the rainy season. Wish surfed. The hike in the park was well worth it, to blend town and nature. There is nothing fancy about the town but has a great vibe.

Only warm hearts and sincere smiles give one the feeling of friendship and every where i went was fun. I stopped at a small restaurant and the waitress being very young and pretty spoke no English which is fine but when looking at the menu i ask if she listed among the items. Only joking in a friendly manor A man who spoke English ask what i was saying and i told him at 82 most don't expect such language. He heard what i ask and went into laughter and smiles telling all what i said. They took it the way i meant it not like i was trying to be rude. The tables around me and those on the sidewalks stopped and laughed and it set the pace for smiles.

Our hotel, Arrecife Punta Uva, was right on the beach and...

Our hotel, Arrecife Punta Uva, was right on the beach and very conveniently close to a restaurant. There were plenty of seating areas and hammocks provided, which made it easy to relax. One of the highlights was a beautiful viewpoint on a cliff about a 10-minute walk away—definitely worth the short hike. The food at the restaurant was also quite good.

We loved our beach cabin stay in Manzanillo! We ate meals on the front porch surrounded by the beautiful garden, listening to the rolling waves of the ocean. The beach is just across the street, and the nature reserve is a five minute walk away at the end of the street. There is also a good Caribbean restaurant at the other end of the street, also just a five minute walk from the cabin. Our host was very friendly and attentive. It’s a quiet, authentic beach town, and much less touristy than Puerto Viejo. We plan to stay there again.

This a brand new villa which is very beautiful but needs to have shampoo and a small kitchenette since there is no restaurant or any nearby. But the place is very relaxing and beautiful at the same time.

Maybe I shouldn't tell you this to keep the place serene LOL The Caribbean side of Costa Rica feels completely different from the Pacific coast. While the Pacific has become busy, built-up, and crowded with tourists, the Caribbean remains far more relaxed, natural, and authentic. Here you find quiet beaches, lush jungle, small locally owned restaurants, and a calm, easygoing vibe that hasn’t been overrun by tourism. It’s the perfect place for travelers who want beauty, culture, and nature without the noise, traffic, and commercial feel of the Pacific coast.

I absolutely loved Tortuguero and wish my spanish was better...

I absolutely loved Tortuguero and wish my spanish was better, however, it was easy to do everything with English--I was amazed at how well everyone spoke it! My favorite tour was the early morning canoe tour I booked with Green Tours. It was so peaceful and my guide, Brandon, was excellent! There are some really good restaurants/bars that are reasonably priced. Overall, it was a good time and I'm really happy with how everything turned out. I recommend booking a place to stay ahead of time, as well as the boat ride and return. Book tours once you get to the village. All the local companies are about the same price and a great value! I would 100% love to come back with friends or a partner someday. PURA VIDA!

Nice for snorkeling and hiking through the park.

Nice for snorkeling and hiking through the park. Not so touristic as Puerto Viejo, so a more realistic Carribean vibe. Snorkeling only allowed by tour, many fish but the coral wasn't very colorful
