Bordered by the Bay of Biscay to the north, the small Spanish region of Cantabria is known for undulating, lush landscapes which sharply rise to sheer peaks in the south-western Picos de Europa mountain range.
The capital Santander is an important port and has a long promenade lining its sandy beach. The coastline to the west is packed with Cantabria hotels on the beach, some of which are in Comillas.
