We were cared for exceptionally well from the moment we walked in. The management are professional and pay attention to small details. The building is gorgeously maintained (I believe they said it was from the 13th century) and the room was modern and had all the necessities plus extra. We enjoyed the fact that the steam room/pool was reserved privately for all guests which was a surprise and made our stay very special. The restaurant was one of the best dinners we have had.

Fantastic location in walking distance to old town and cable car. Our room was very quiet being on the top floor with a lovely view to the mountains. Our host Thomas was easy going, helpful and organised a taxi driver for a longer day trip we took. We were most grateful for his assistance. Great breakfast and selection of cereals, pastries, tea, coffee etc.

View to mountains from our room is a big plus. It was quite. A comfortable bad and pillows. We have a good sleep. Calm and helpful hosts. Hotel facilities are very good to have: a club where you can have some tea/coffee/snacks, a sauna and gym. The best ratio price/quality I had for some time travelling. Nearby a shopping mall with some cafe, also possible to walk to a téléphérique or many cafe in Grenoble.

The location was perfect, few steps from tram stop which can bring you to basically every place in the city. Not far from the train/bus station, just a 15 mins enjoyable walk. The view was pretty good, i could clearly see mountains on left and right side of my room from the balcony. The street at the bottom of the building was safe and clean.

I never really leave reviews, but here I had to, because I was afraid to book after I read the reviews. I don't need a lot, so I still booked, but the reviews didn't match at all with what I experienced. I had a great stay. The location is perfect, the employees are friendly, the room good looking, the bed and pillow are very comfortable, and the shower too. It's not a room to hang out in for a long time, but for sure, it's a comfy bedroom. Wifi is good in the room too, it was clean and I had towels, soap and even shampoo. The room doesn't have a view, but if you look around in the center, there don't exist windows with a good view. The windows had good curtains blocking out sun and light, giving it a good temperature to sleep in. Even having a power nap at 2pm was comfortable. I could leave my backpack and check in quite a lot earlier than 3pm, checkout time is also perfect at 10.30am. I've never had such a good room located in a center for 50 euros. I was very very happy and would stay here again for sure when I'm in Chambery.

The city seemed just abandoned, although the location is very nice with the Alps on the backdrop, city center feels as if it is in a declining mode. Restaurants and retail shops look as if they are in a different country not in France. We are not coming back anytime soon

We actually ended up staying here due to an issue with an Airbnb in another city. But it was easy to book, the people were friendly, and the surrounding area to walk around was beautiful. Looked like there was a lot more to explore had we stayed longer.

Voreppe is located at the foot of the Vercor and Chartreuse mountain ranges, within 20 minutes from Grenoble. If you like mountains, green scenery, snow capped mountains, this is a place for you. You are within reasonable distances from small villages, the large Grenoble metropolis, 1 h from the 2nd largest city in France (Lyon) and dozens of ski resort ( for winter or summer activities).

Connection by public transport to Grenoble is horrible (1 h+ when a car ride takes 20 min), and taxis are VERY expensive (I paid > 70€ for a taxi from Crolles to Grenoble train station on a Sunday). Either come with your own car or don't come at all. The nature and landscape is beautiful though.

A hidden gem. A small and still original alpine village. The hype of other tourist spots is far away. Still, the village has a few Restaurants to choose and his own cheese manufactory. Ideal for a break away. Well, there is no train but at least public bus connection. (I also have to admit that we travelled by car 😬.)

We really enjoyed Grenoble.

We really enjoyed Grenoble. It is a nice friendly city with good transport. We visited the art gallery and the cable car. The scenery is stunning. We were only there two days but with more time would have ventured out of the city into the countryside. We would recommend the Belle Idée restaurant. After Grenoble we went to Aix. The first part of our journey was on a beautiful little train from Grenoble towards Gap. This went through the Alps and this journey was amazing. Well worth doing.

Interesting town with cultural heritage.

Interesting town with cultural heritage. I was just passing through en route from Italy to London but it is a perfect stopover for one night. Unfortunately I was there on a Monday, when some attractions eg the castle are closed but I did visit the cathedral. There are many restaurants which sell local produce.

Beautiful city with mountains all around. Generally people look healthy out and about running or on their bikes and there is an obvious commitment to environmental issues. The museum is the best art gallery I have ever been to! Easy city to be out and about in with so many inviting cafes and bars and spectacular views from the telegraphique

I lived in Chambery for a year 20 years ago.

I lived in Chambery for a year 20 years ago. It is the ideal blend of bigger town conveniences and smaller town authenticity. At first drive or walk through, you might think “pass”. But if you get out and start to walk around the central heart of town and also realize the history here, you discover Chambery’s charm.
