Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city.
Fabulous and unspoiled medieval city. The city is divided by a straight road with many shops. It is good to explore both sides. One has all the main buildings the other side has a maze of charming streets. at night the town is gaslit - very atmospheric! The market is exceptional.Guest review byclareUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bergerac is a beautiful town in the Dordogne, we loved walking around the historic area, it feels very safe and is hilly enough to add to the character but not too hilly to spend the whole day walking around. The Port on the Dordogne River is nice, we did the boat ride, you don't see much as far as houses or buildings but there was plenty of wildlife to see, Osprey, Egrets and they even found a Kingfisher for us so see. One entire day there or 2 short days is enough. We filled the other 2 days with excursions to Chateaux.Guest review bySo many placesFrance - 10.0

We loved the narrow streets, with bars and bistros everywhere. The cathedral is a very striking building, and can be seen from long distances. We enjoyed the markets, and the general atmosphere of the town. We felt safe walking round.Guest review byRosemary - 6.0

Boulazac has commercial trading estates which are useful for accessing supermarkets and petrol stations but not for tourists unless the accommodation is found on the outskirts where there are quiet and tranquil residential areas and semi-rural locations to be enjoyed. It is, however, very close to Perigueux with its tourist attractions and gastronomic cuisine. It is also well placed for visiting the Dordogne and all of its attractions by car.Guest review byLeslieUnited Kingdom - 10.0
You need a car, but parking isn‘t easy.
You need a car, but parking isn‘t easy. Unfortunately, I wasn‘t prepared, so I had to scout things out. Because my days were filled, I often left too early or came back too late to enjoy all the opportunities available.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
One of the prettiest places I have visited.
One of the prettiest places I have visited. It looks like it came out of a fairytale. It was wonderful to walk around the village because everything look so pretty. It’s perfect for slow traveling. The products there didn’t seem overpriced, so we bought a lot of nice souvenirs.Guest review byBellaPhilippines - 10.0

This touristy village is a great base for a holiday in the Dordogne area of France. It's the world centre of prehistory, complete with the excellent National Museum of Prehistory and loads of caves and rock shelters nearby. The incredible cave paintings at Lascaux and the medieval town of Sarlat (amazing market on Saturday mornings) are a short drive away. There are loads of great restaurants in the village, and also a weekly evening food market on Fridays in the summer, with fabulous food stalls (top-quality take away dinner!). We didn't have a car during our holiday - we travelled there and back to Les Eyzies by train, and made full use of the local bus services 337 and 339 which run a very cheap summer service for tourists to Sarlat and Lascaux. Canoeing on the River Vezere is a must - we used Canoe 24, a 5-minute walk from our hotel.Guest review byDianaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

One full day would have been enough to see Beynac and walk to Castlenaud and back - two nights in the apartment would thus have been enough for me. BUT - if you have a car, and family, there is a lot to do and the town is much less crowded than Sarlat.Guest review byCarolynUnited States - 10.0
