First time visiting Chequers. It was absolutely excellent. Stylish, spotless, tastefully done & i would highly recommend srating there. The room, facilities, bedding alm lovely. We will definitely go back. Everything was so easy, self check in. Private and peaceful.     Our lake view room was large, and very comfortable. Fabulous scenery, just sit and enjoy the entire vista. A big bathroom with both bath and shower, and a magnified mirror....(I love that for putting on the makeup!) The breakfast was absolutely delicious, 100% to the breakfast chef and staff, all the staff were friendly and courteous and welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant, again it was really lovely, and the waiter was very helpful in recommending a wine to compliment our main course. Will definitely stay here on our next visit to the beautiful Lake District.

    SWAN Hotel is so excellent. I like this hotel very much. Clean, quiet, warm and friendly staff, beautiful surrounding environment. Breakfast is great. I like the interior decoration of the hotel very much, with style and a typical rural atmosphere. The bus stop is opposite the hotel, which is very convenient to go anywhere. I will also book this hotel next time when I come to Lake District.

    We only stayed for 1 night whilst on a long drive down to the south coast, but this was just the break that we needed to rest and recharge. A comfy bed, a nice meal, and very pleasant surroundings. Everything is very well maintained, and the open fire and bathtub in the bedroom was a lovely added bonus. (Otterstone room)

    Visited in early October...town was humming in daytime, and reasonably busy at night. Didn't feel like holidaying out of season. Lots of outdoor shops, cafe's, pubs and cafes, all seemed very friendly. Ate in both pubs and local restaurant. Very helpful tourist Information with lots of maps etc

    Windermere is a vibrant town. It has a great choice of restaurants, cafes and bars offering a great range of food genres. It has a lot of independent shops with wonderful window displays and friendly, helpful teams. It has a spectacular lake which is lovely to walk beside.It is also a gateway to other towns in the wider area of the Lake District.

    Quiet city consideringit is a University City. Lots if shopping areas but like many high streets many empty premises. The indoor covered market is virtually non exisitant which is a shame. Parking is reaonable and the Cathedral is well worth visiting.

    Bowness is a very compact, beautiful, scenic place. It is easy to walk around the town & walks around parts of the lake very accessible. Great boat trips available of varying lengths. Easy to get to other towns & villages by car or bus. Masses of eating places for a variety of tastes. Lovely area to view in any kind of weather.

    The cottage was in a good location to visit other parts of the Lake District. Narrow roads but not too busy. We ate in the Cottage in the evening but visited the local pub, just a short walk away, for a pre-dinner drink. We bought some wonderful local bacon from the shop. The Shop was surprisingly well stocked. The Cottage is not in Ambleside which was a good thing as there was a Beer Festival the whole weekend we were there and Town was packed. The Cottage is in a perfect location and great for walkers.

    I've been visiting Grasmere for many years. It's a beautiful village but is is sad too see so many premises vacant and some of the old buildings derelict. some of the Hotels have closed as well.

    I go there to meet up with old school friends so I know the area and where to visit. Furness Abbey, Dock Museum and Walney Island Nature Reserve are well worth visiting. Ulverston is a lovely small town and not far away.
