Staff was wonderful! Five stars and more! Took extra time to give us an historical tour, showing us Oliver Cromwell's alleged musket holes on the ancient front door and other oddities and delights. Drove our rental car to our room so we wouldn't have to search for it. Made us feel relaxed, welcome, and comfortable. Enjoyed the meals, the pool, and the lovely common areas. My 8 year old daughter and I loved playing chess and drinking tea and hot chocolate while eating dessert in the beautiful lounge, with Katherine Parr's portrait peering down at us. We traveled for a month in the UK and France, and this was our favorite hotel. So much to see and do: swimming, hiking, lounging. My daughter was obsessed with the full-size chess board outside, although we didn't have time to play that set. Compared to where we live in N CA, this place was also a remarkable value! We paid $350 which included the breakfast (there's a wonderful buffet in addition to the hot breakfast), and a 110 pound dinner allowance. You couldn't stay in a Courtyard for that where we live.

This was my first trip to England and it was thrilling to stay in a hotel that looked like a small castle. The decor was so rustic and beautiful. I also loved all of the smaller cottages on the property and the grounds were just lovely. We really enjoyed spending some time outdoors while we were there.

cheltenham is very 50/50 it has a very nice picturesque side with lovely hotels and restaurants and great shops BUT also a very poor area of town where it can be pretty rough and rowdy i stayed in town for 8 months in a hotel whilst working locally and it was a shock to the noise and rowdy behaviour every night especially weekends

We stayed in a central inn, full of character with enthusiastic young staff. Very well placed for traffic free walking to Guildhall, Cathedral and Docks. Interesting mix of shops, cafes etc. We attended a Guildhall event one evening and a Cathedral event another and ran out of time for a return to the Docks. We plan to return to see Gloucester in the Spring.

There is plenty to do in Cirencester and around, a good choice of pubs and shops [lots of boutique style as well as larger well known brands] regular Markets in the main market place, a lovely church, undercover markets, tea shops, library, a museum and the parks, especially nice in the dryer, warmer weather Plenty of places within easy reach if you have your own transport, and the buses run regularly to nearby towns too

A wonderful historic town which we have visited many times. It is difficult to name our favourite places as there are so many. We ate at The Old stocks inn and the sheep. Both were really good. Not sure about activities as we are very fit but 74 and 88 years old. So we just did comfortable things like walking around the lovely villages.

The Cotswold's is always a beautiful place to visit all year round but as all places Christmas in the Cotswold's is magical. With the lights glistering against the low clouds and the nip in the air there is always places to pop in for a drink ,eat and warm yourselves in the glow of the fires and of course the welcoming people of the villages
