Very cosy room with large comfy bed and excellent hot shower. Location meant that good restaurants were literally next door or within 10 min walk. And breakfast/brunch was easily sorted due to the many cafes nearby. Great tv options needed on winter nights with Netflix, iPlayer, and many other options. Had difficulty with heating when we arrived on a very cold day, so I texted the owner and he promptly responded. He turned heating on remotely and turned up later to check that all was OK. So although there is no staff on site, you knew there was someone to help as necessary.

FAQs about hotels in Kent

The Peaceful Garden of England

The so-called Garden of England, Kent is known for its lush greenery. Although within easy reach of London, it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle. So much so, that at many Kent hotels, spa facilities come as standard. One is, unsurprisingly, in the sophisticated spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Nearby in Lamberhurst is medieval Scotney Castle, surrounded by a moat. Also moat-bound and with Kent accommodation available on Booking.com are Hever Castle and Leeds Castle (the latter in a village not to be confused with the city of Leeds).

The county town is Maidstone, but its most famous city is Canterbury, whose magnificent cathedral is the seat of the Church of England’s highest post. Rochester also has an impressive cathedral.

To the west is Margate, one of the top Kent seaside towns. Other resorts with long beaches are Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Around the coastline, Dover is known for its white cliffs, castle and the ferries crossing the English Channel to France. To the west is the Channel Tunnel by Folkestone, and Eurostar trains from St Pancras also stop at Ashford inland.

Other popular Kent attractions are the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, Brands Hatch motor racing circuit, and the conical oast houses so typical of this part of England.

Hever Castle was incredibly magical and every aspect exceeded my expectations. The staff was spectacular and very helpful, the rooms very incredible, the washroom was modern, the grounds were stunning. The breakfast was delicious! We had lunch at the gardens on-site, we chose outside seating, nice selection of food, the sponge cake was heavenly. The gift shop was a nice touch as well as the ice cream. We took a local taxi the hotel recommended to the Wheatsheaf for dinner which was amazing as well. I didn’t want to leave Hever Castle. So amazing.

My wife and I had an amazing experience at Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopia Spa. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, making our stay truly special. The spa was perfect for relaxation, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and luxurious. A big thank you for their excellent service – we accidentally left an item behind, and they quickly arranged for its return. Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing getaway! The Cathedral is a must as it is surrounded by many historic buildings as well as the views of the Kings School. The ruined Abbey is nearby and worth a visit. The lack of vehicles in the central area is wonderful. Several pleasant parks are within the city and some small rivers cross the it. The library and museum are well worth a look particularly the museum with a reasonably good collection as well as regular featured exhibitions.

Folkestone used to be a beautiful place, and still is in some parts. I can see where some investment is going and it was great to see some of the old buildings still standing but so many shops have shut down and replaced with new which what sad to see because the old shops was the best especially down the old cobbly high street.

We visited this hotel to enjoy food and wine.

We visited this hotel to enjoy food and wine. We were not disappointed. We had a bottle of Lynch Bages 2018 which was a perfect match with the Chateaubriand. We started with the chicken liver pate which was excellent and finished with the sticky figgy pudding which was divine. The only problem was the steak knives - blunt. Luckily, the beef was so tender , we could have cut it with a cardboard knife.

Pleasant. Would not stay again until there is a refurb and walls are soundproof due to hearing moans and groans in the room next door at 12am. I was staying with my daughter and it was not a nice experience. Jacuzzi has been faulty for over a month. Breakfast was mediocre, not good quality ingredients.
