Everything; location within the village, the lovely welcoming, friendly and helpful staff and standard of the room. We only stayed one night and didn’t have our evening meal at the Magpies but breakfast was excellent. The menus suggested a very high quality as did the fact that the restaurant was fully booked so make sure that you book ahead of your stay.

Very clean, comfy and excellent location. Staff were very helpful, especially the cleaning staff, as our door lock got stuck and wouldn’t open. They called the front reception and had the manager come and fix the door very quickly. Beautiful location, close to the canal for walks, the restaurant was very good and if you had kids a nice playground for them. There was even Sunday afternoon music in the garden, very pleasant. Recommend and would stay again.

An interesting and beautiful city which in recent years has become more aware of it's visitor potential, a near unique setting with the castle and cathedral near each other at the top of an attractive (or challenging?) hill, with more modern developments downhill. Lots of history, plenty of cafes and restaurants, also numerous good pubs many of which are historic and independant. I may be biased, I was born there but now live elsewhere, but yes, it's a great little city.

Boston has an amazing history with lot's of historic period buildings. Unfortunately it is now full of young asylum seeking men hanging about in the centre of town. Lot's of the decent shops and many of the pubs have closed down. Such a shame because it could once again be beautiful ! Clear out the asylum seekers, create a sense of community and pump some investment back into the city !

We were in Louth for a highly specific reason: Thomas Kendall preached a sermon at St James Parish Church on 1st October 1536, that kicked off the Lincolnshire Rising in protest against Thomas Cromwell's depredations. This quickly led to the Pilgrimage of Grace, across Yorkshire, Lancashire, Durham and Cumbria. Thomas Kendall was executed at Tyburn in March 1537 for his 'treason'.

Amazing hotel with lots of history.

Amazing hotel with lots of history. Pictures and photos all around showing its previous incarnation. Lovely place to spend time, the atmosphere enhances the experience given its history as the Officers Mess for the RAF preparing for the Dambusters raid. Extensive gardens are well tended although not so interesting dull/wet weather. But beautifully decorated for the Christmas season.

I hadn't been to Lincoln before and was really looking forward to seeing the Cathedral, Castle, narrow streets with interesting shops, and finding out about the history. I was not disappointed and could easily have spent more time here. Two days was not enough. The guided tour of the Cathedral is definitely worth doing and the Castle Wall Walk affords great views. Great eateries as well. I would particularly recommend Ole Ole Tapas and the White Horse pub for their fantastic Sunday lunch.
