The Winnock is the oldest Hotel in the UK. It was full of character and charm. The location was perfect for exploring the Trossachs. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The beds were very clean, with new mattress envelopes on each bed. The Hotel bar had a great dinner and friendly service. The entertainment was really very good, a great way to spend a Friday night in the Scottish countryside! The roaring fireplace was perfect to warm up after a long hike .

Wonderful setting with a pleasant short walk to the park looking out on to the water and a stylish inn with a true “unusual” touch. A walk on a winter night, Doune appeared to be a nice country town. Very tidy,no obvious litter lying around. For the size of the town,a lot of privately owned shops and businessess. As my business was out of town, I never seen much more! I will be sure to return, hopefully with more time to explore.

Lochearnhead itself is a small, quiet place. The water sports and camping lodges do increase the population during the seasons. The scenery is stunning when the fickle Scottish weather behaves itself. But go prepared for all seasons.
