We stayed in Aparthotel which was separated from the Hotel. It’s about 3 mins walk from the hotel. No parking at the Aparthotel but you can park at the hotel from 8pm- 8am (around this.). The rest was great. Beds were comfy. Facilities were great.Guest review byWariyaThailand

Newcastle is special.
Newcastle is special. We lie in the North East of England but are so not English. Famous for the following: NUFC Carabou Cup winners 2025. Shearers Bar under, China town and the Irish club just across the way. All very friendly History: The Roman Wall and England's Biggest National Park just north Castles: Lots and a day out in the castle in Newcastle is a trip and a half: historians staff the place and take you on a wee historical excursion Cheap as Chips: We still offer lovely hotel rooms for cost effective prices bacpacking beds for under £20 Camping: England's Best two campsites. Springhill farm in Seahouses and Hadrians Wall campsite near the Sill Nightlife: Theatre, Pubs and nightclubs a foodies paradise Hiking: It's Northumberland !! Sailing : Marina's o the Tyne and the last one in England at Amble run by Boatfolk Shopping: Bargains galore and some high end designer shops if you are into that sort of thing Ferries: Don't skip Newcastle on your way to Scotland for your family holiday on the DFDS ferry Geordie dictionaries available in the library : you will need themGuest review byDeniseUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We were visiting family on this trip as I come from Seaburn, Sunderland. Location is perfect, lots of places to eat. We chose North a seafood tapas restaurant and it was fantastic. The beaches are heavenly and the people friendly. Perfect.Guest review byJoUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I was there for business, it was a lovely place to visit, so close to Newcastle and the surrounding areas. Wish I could have stayed longer to do some more exploring. The roads were quiet, and the area was clean. Loved the Angel of the NorthGuest review byChristopherUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The sandy beach was clean.
The sandy beach was clean. Good paved areas running the length of the sea-front overlook the beach and sea, with segregated lanes for bikes. A positive lack of "tackiness". Whilst we didn't venture much into the town area, the beach and sea-front give the impression of being cared for. It's also easy to walk along the front, north to St Mary's Island and the lighthouse, or south to Cullercoats and Tynemouth and their similarly well looked-after facilities.Guest review byStuart - 6.0

I would have liked to have given a better review but unfortunately we had an issue with a faulty oven & hob. Although the electrician attended he was unable to rectify the issue concluding a new oven was required. This left us with only the hob which also tripped out if using more than one ring. Gordon offered us a full refund if we booked out after one night. However this was not acceptable as we had events planned for Saturday. Also, as we had planned to self cater we had bought in food which was wasted and we had to dine out with unexpected expenditure. i.e Friday evening & Saturday evening. Gordon offered a reduction of £100.00 which we thought reasonable, & accepted. We appreciate Gordon would have no control over the oven issue & being weekend there was little that could be achieved until working weekday.Guest review byMalcolm johnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A park with boating pond and a ride on miniature steam train. The fun fair for more adventurous types. A fabulous beach with a walkway. The pier - one of the longest in the country. Roman ruins for historic buffs. Not a great place to shop but only a short metro ride to Newcastle. Ferry across the Tyne to North ShieldsGuest review byDaniseUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nice hotel right on the coast at Tynemouth, near Cullercoats. A short walk to the lovely village at Tynemouth and alternatively in the other direction to Whitley Bay. Good restaurant and breakfast served daily sets you up for the day. Good choice if this is the area you seek to visit.Guest review bySandraUnited States - 8.0
We knew abought Houghton le Spring already.
We knew abought Houghton le Spring already. We needed to be in Stanley, Durham, and East & West Rainton so hotel was ideally situated. We used the in-house Restaurants & Bar on 3 nights and the Italian Restaurant across the road ! night.. There are bus routes outside the Hotel - I believe maximum fare of £2.00.Guest review byVictorUnited Kingdom - 2.0
The people were lovely and friendly.
The people were lovely and friendly. But, this is not and upmarket place to stay. It was full of drunks and druggies (even the taxi driver and the electrician said this) It was just like some of the worst council estates we have here in the UK. I didn't go out at night with the dog because of this. There were quite a few pit bulls around, including the one upstairs. The property itself was ok and comfortable, but left a lot to be desired. The cutlery drawer was at ground level, there were slugs on the worktop every other morning and the fridge was awkward to open - you had to shut the kitchen door to get into it! But the owner was helpful and friendly.Guest review byMarionUnited Kingdom - 10.0
