We love your bar are the two gentlemen on duty that night we’re just spectacular. We had been told no dinner table until 7.45 but did not advise us we could eat in the bar…….Tony took care of everything. Alex was also very prompt with requests and polite in our dealings. Great evening meal.

Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 11,443 reviews
I arrived at 9pm and checked in very quickly and easily. Everyone I met was very polite and friendly. The entrance, lobby, mezzanine and terrace/balcony (on a sunny day) are quite stunning. My room was spotlessly clean and very spacious, with a fridge, Tassimo machine, kettle, tea bags, etc, a sofa and a coffee table. Wifi was free, fast and reliable. Bathroom was bright and spacious. View from my 2nd floor window was so beautiful on a sunny morning with the beach, waves, lighthouse. Apart from some squeaky floorboards (understandable in such an old building) and occasional seagulls, there was no noise from neighbouring rooms or traffic or anything. I loved it there and would visit again and again given the chance. Loved Scarborough too.

Booked to see concert at Open Air Theatre and to spend weekend at Scarborough. Venue was just a minute walk away from The Sands. Accommodation was on the beach so we just walked on to beach for a swim from the Apartment block. 5+ star quality. High tech security. Welcome Hamper awaited us with milk, tea and biscuits, packet of crisps, mini bottle of wine, beer and even sparkling water. Staff were really caring and friendly. I had a fall while walking, so they even provided me with bandage dressing and plasters. Apartment had all mod cons you can think of. Very tastefully furnished. Even Netflix on HD TV. Everything was perfect!

I booked the day before checkin as had to leave an Airbnb close by as wasn’t available for the one night. Arrived early and was upgraded and received an early checkin. Reception staff were ultra helpful and obliging. Room was very clean and well laid out. Had the breakfast on day of checkout and this was good old fashioned greasy spoon stuff as was expected and I really like it. Creaky floorboards and one or two other things could make some to call the hotel dates but this added to the character of a Victorian era building. Great location, great staff, nice room and yummy breakfast - what’s not to like?

We stayed in York for our honeymoon during the Christmas...

We stayed in York for our honeymoon during the Christmas markets, and it was absolutely fantastic. The city feels magical at that time of year – the historic streets, festive lights, and the atmosphere around the markets made it feel really special and memorable. There are so many great places to eat and drink, from cosy pubs to excellent restaurants, and everywhere we went the food and service were spot on. York is very walkable, full of character, and perfect for taking things at a relaxed pace while still having plenty to see and do. We also took advantage of a couple of day trips booked through GetYourGuide, which were well organised and a great way to explore beyond the city without any hassle. Overall, York was the perfect honeymoon destination – romantic, historic, festive, and full of great experiences. We couldn’t have chosen a better place and would absolutely love to return, especially at Christmas.

The location was perfect for attending The Sheffield Arena...

The location was perfect for attending The Sheffield Arena for a concert, other than the location the facilities were awful, a toilet in a small cupboard, the sink in the actual room, alongside the shower in the room with a glass door and a big round hole in the glass door for any other occupants in the room able to view you in the shower, therefore we felt too uncomfortable to use the shower. The beds moved as not attached to the headboard and were on legs like a camp bed, a very small tv in the corner of the room, budget ibis facilities is an understatement, we left early next morning to escape the unfortunate facilities and to shower back at home in private Payment for parking is also an insult as room prices way overpriced let alone parking fee on top !!

The city centre itself is architecturally impressive, lots of lovely Victorian buildings and the streets have had a makeover due to the Bradford 2025 status. The Alhambra and Bradford Live venues are impressive and there seems lots to do and see. A few nice restaurants too. However, the city can feel a little intimidating at times, gangs of young men and kids and lots of homeless, particularly if you venture outside of the immediate city centre. The Broadwalk shopping centre is clean and modern, but other areas of the city centre and run down and very tired, with lots of empty shops. More phone and vape shops than anywhere else I've been in the UK for some reason. Beware also of the standard of driving in the city, as speed limits, traffic lights and indicators are frequently ignored, so always check twice before crossing the road!

We wandered around Whitby for a day after arriving on the bus from York. There is plenty to see and do even though it is winter. We enjoyed fish and chips, the walk to the beach, lighthouse, the abbey, cliffs/coastal path, and the brewery. There are plenty of shopping opportunities as well. I would recommend the Magpie Cafe for dining.

Doncaster town is very depressing.

Doncaster town is very depressing. Big shops moved out and lots of shops closed entirely. Such a shame. We lived here for eleven years and moved with work but come back frequently to see friends. From the bank HSBC up Hallgate to the top is a very sad sight. Money needs investing to make it lovely again.

I was visiting my 6yr old daughter for Christmas so had a great time once she finished school at the weekend but the room at the black swan pub in Scarborough was nowhere near what I expected the pictures of the room on site didn't match what it actually looked like it wasn't worth the money we paid for it and that was £260 yes I know we stayed for 5 nights but we provided our own food etc and the room wasn't too the standards I was expecting at all I wouldn't recommend using this pub if you're thinking of traveling to Scarborough
