United StatesPanayiota was the perfect host. Our initial ferry was cancelled and she helped us book a backup ferry. The arrival next one arrived a day later with delays and she arranged for local transport to meet us at the port and take is to the beautiful village of Lagada. She even offered to refund the first night we missed. The apartment is beautiful - completely designed by her. The view from the balcony was amazing and the entire property was quiet and well maintained. There is a second apartment that shares the balcony so ideal for a larger group or two families. She’s always available to answer questions on WhatsApp and lives nearby so can handle anything that comes up.

The spaces have been well configured to maximize space and utility. Modern conveniences are included (such as AC/Heat units, modern bathrooms and multiple electrical outlets that have been thoughtfully placed) that don't detract from the overall charm of the property. Situated on a hillside on the south side of Aegaili Bay and literally a 4-minute drive to town, the views are simply breathtaking and best of all, it is blissfully quiet. Sustainability isn't just a slogan here, The owners are committed to limiting water usage and recycling as well as reducing the amount of plastic that enters the waste stream. Guests can refill their plastic and glass bottles at a station at reception that provides filtered water. Best of all, the owners and their teenage daughter are extremely friendly and accommodating hosts. They never get in your way but seem to always be available when you need them. The entrance to the hotel is quite pleasant, and the presence of books is a significant plus. From the moment we made the reservation, the staff was in constant communication with us regarding our potential needs. Dimitra welcomed us early in the morning when we arrived and handed us our room. The room was spacious, airy, and clean. Having a mosquito net on the balcony was a great advantage. We rented a car through their family business, Evdokia, and received detailed and practical information about getting to the harbor, traffic, and more. Kitchen was equipped with detergent and, much appreciated, new sponge. Simple but clean room. It's wonderful that the room is cleaned daily, with sheets and sparkling white towels (2 for each) changed. Lovely hosts who do all they can to make your stay perfect (they even gave us the chance to shower in another room in the afternoon , after checkout) which was great because a long trip with sand and salt on you is unpleasant. We really enjoyed our time in Aegiali.
We really enjoyed our time in Aegiali. We had a great place to stay in with amazing views of the water and sunsets. The beach is very close as are the hiking trails. So many great restaurants in Aegiali. We also really appreciated that it was peaceful and everyone was friendly. Wonderful place with little tourists, amazing views on the sea, authentic food and atmosphere. Never felt so agreeably remote from modern life, without any compromise on comfort at the places we stayed. This was an adorable little town. There was a little shopping (like a few stores) and some great restaurants. The area is not too touristy. Our kids met up with the local kids every night to play soccer and that absolutely made the trip fantastic for all of us. Katapola is very convenient because the port is there.
Katapola is very convenient because the port is there. It is recommended if you are going to rent a car, because there is easy access to Chora and the rest of the island. It is a quiet place and has a lot of Tavernas. "Mouragio" is recommended for fresh fish. The salad with Xinotiron is a must try in Amorgos. Xilokeratidi is a nice long walk from Katapola (maybe 15 minutes) , where one can enjoy the sunset. Enjoy your cocktails at "Fata Morgana" and an amazing pulled pork sandwich. "Yukali" on the other hand offers fresh mussels and seafood pasta topped with excellent service. If you like a long hike continue your walk from Xilokeratidi to Agia Paraskevi for the sunset.
