Our room featured a private terrace with a jacuzzi, creating a romantic and relaxing atmosphere that we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive throughout our stay. We especially want to highlight the afternoon and evening receptionist (unfortunately, we never caught his name) who fulfilled every request with a warm smile and genuine care, making us feel truly welcome. Breakfast was exquisite, with a great variety of fresh and delicious options. The transfer service was also excellent, punctual and comfortable, which made our arrival and departure hassle-free. In summary, despite these small inconveniences, the hotel’s stunning location, wonderful views, excellent service, and charming atmosphere made our stay memorable. When we arrived, we received a very warm welcome and complimentary chilled bottle of wine in our room with other items, and everyone was so friendly throughout our stay. The room was also excellent and was tidied every morning while we were at breakfast. They had an evening service if you wished with a complimentary dessert, too. Fira is a great town full of varied shops and fantastic places to eat. It can be expensive so plan a little extra money for food though! There are plenty of things to do an see in the town and the public transport to other areas of the island are quite frequent and cheap. Oia is stunning, especially at sunset, but in September it felt overrun with cruise ship crowds and influencers. We loved our simple apartment with its incredible views, starry nights, and the local cats and donkeys. Food and wine are excellent but expensive, and swimming isn’t easy without hiring a car or scooter. Glad I booked Imerovigli over Oia or Fira. It was quieter, more affordable, has amazing views and walking distance to great restaurants. Lovely village but getting very busy. Restaurants were excellent and staff in them very polite and attentive. Despite being after peak season it was crowded, noisy, traffic jams quite frequent and pricey. We returned after 20 years to discover that it’s not a place for vacation any more. The only downside is the many stairs you need to climb, which can be tiring in the evening after a full day. On the other hand, in the early morning I really enjoyed jogging through the area. Akrotiri is a beautiful town. I definitely recommend visiting the Akrotiri archaeological site, but the entrance fee of 20 euros is honestly way too expensive. A great place to stay as an alternative to Fira, if you are happy to walk into the town for 15 minutes along a beautiful cliff side walk, which is sometimes steep in places and can be very hot!
