I absolutely loved this hotel, and I really hope we go back someday. I hope the entire staff gets rewarded this end of the year, because they really know what hospitality is. It happened to be on our way on a 20hrs drive route and we chose it as we always wanted to visit Balaton area. It was OUTSTANDING, from the service to the quality of sleep, & on top even the food experience. Very clean and great facilities. IMPORTANT: You can even choose and request different types of pillows depending on your sleeping style. JACUZZI: We chose to get the Coco Suite and the jacuzzi at 37degrees was amazing for the beginning of November. Recommended to anyone who wants to continue spa after 8PM in the cold season. Wide variety of wines and honest pricing. Great spa area, super relaxing overall being a smaller hotel. Delicious menus, compliments to the chef! Having half-board included made me expect average experience, but it was absolutely not, and I think many more hotels should have this approach. I will always remember this hotel.

If I could give this place 50 stars I would. Every single thing about this place was perfect from the moment we arrived. The staff are friendly, professional, accommodating, and always available for help or questions. They are definitely well staffed between cleaning, restaurants, reception, bars, etc and you never have to wait long for anything. The welcome drink upon arrival was a nice start to our trip here. We had an incredible room with 2 balconies, a beautiful lake front view, and an incredible deep bathtub and large comfortable bed. The outdoor lake deck private for hotel guests was really nice and relaxing. Because we were here before “season” starts, we had no trouble finding available lounge chairs. The fresh, cold towels were also a nice touch! We made use of the wellness area. The two saunas were very nice as well as a the two indoor pools. The layout was comfortable and again, lots of space. The massage services were top! Absolutely amazing staff here and my husband and I both enjoyed our massages. The breakfast buffet/made to order service was delicious and had a great variety. We never got tired of it during our 3 days stay. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. When you look at the other hotels around, there is just absolutely no comparison. Mala Gardens is amazing quality and the prices are fair! Will happily return.

I stayed once at the same hotel in my early 20s when I was travelling on a budget and I remember how old and sad it looked and seeing it after the renovation was amazing. It looks almost unrecognisable. I think the only thing that remained the same are the walls. The team did a great job to make it an excellent place to stay.

The staff (receptionists, Zalán - the bell boy, the restaurant staff, the masseuse, the ladies at the café) were all super kind, polite and professionals. When I checked in, I asked for some information about the massage. The receptionist remembered my request and introduced the masseuse to me while I was at the café. In the evening, he still remembered my room number when we went to have dinner - exceptionally professional! The room was clean and comfortable, the spa was enjoyable and super clean! There are restaurants around the hotel, the town centre is a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The food (we had breakfast and dinner) was amazing, we could choose from a big variety of dishes, and the coffee was amazing! We went there by car; the hotel has its own big car park, it's safe and only the hotel guests have access to it by using a card which opens the gate. There are different facilities for small children, the best is the bouncy inflatable castle. All in all, I can highly recommend this hotel to families, couples and solo travellers too.

It’s a perfect place if you want to relax in a quiet environment. The garden is well maintained, the pool’s temperature was perfect. The rooms were clean, it had every basic equipment in the kitchen that we needed for a few days. There are some rules that the owner kindly asked us to follow and to respect the others who stayed at the property. The owner was nice, flexible with our groups arrival, and even gave us the keys in advance. If you looking for a place where you can relax for a great price, it’s perfect. Stores, beaches, train stations are in walking distance.

It's a nice place where you can spend a great holiday.

It's a nice place where you can spend a great holiday. You have a lot of bike lanes to ride on. The lake is usually nice but sometimes it can be really muddy. A lot of restaurants so you surely can find something to eat. Overall a great place to be during summer and autumn.

Beautiful city, so much to see and visited.Many good restaurants even for sort walk from the accommodation. People are very friendly and helpful if u needs. Taxi is cheap enough to get around. Food and snacks are available everywhere and is affordable .

Szantod is easily accessed from Budapest by train.

Szantod is easily accessed from Budapest by train. From Szantod there is a ferry to Tihany, but stay in Szantod is much cheaper. The food in St. Christopher restaurant is excellent, there are many shops, icecream places in Szantod, but for a good 'langos', you need to go to the neighbouring villages. They can be reached by buses easily and with regular connection it is easy to get around.

Nice and serene place by the lake.

Nice and serene place by the lake. A couple of restaurants by the lake, which was nice. People there don't speak english, but most know german. Traffic by the main road was pretty high, which made crossing quite a challange. Most of the shore is taken by private properties.

Fonyód was reasonably clean and pleasant town. In places quite smelly, some houses need a bit of love and well kept houses have wildly diverse architecture, but generally the town feels safe and offers a lot of restarurants, ferry service, some water attractions and playgrounds for kids. Be aware though, very very few people (even young) speak foreign language there. What a difference in comparison to Györ in the North of Hungary, where everyone we met in the public areas spoke either English or German on a reasonable level. People are neither unfriendly, nor friendly; I fell like they just don't care about foreign tourists and mostly avoid communication due to a language barrier.

Fantastic place to spend your holiday. The city developed a lot lately so it can offer you numerous opportunity for enjoy yourself there. The beach, the winestreet, the lookout tower and its enviroment are all beautiful and give real entertainment.

Great for family vacation to visit the area and enjoy the lakeside for 3-5 days. You can spend half days visiting area and half days at the beach. Lake is shallow (1,2m deep) for over 150m from shore. Grass beach is excellent for games and relaxing. Restaurants and shops on the beach. You can easily discover the Balaton Lake area from here. There is a view tower with lake museum 12 min drive away. It also has a nice playground for kids. Ferry crossing to Tihany peninsula can be reached by ferry which is 25min from the village. Nice experience for children. Tihany village is beautiful, with nice view over lake. Excellent restaurant for lunch. Szigligeti Castle is about 1h20mim drive away. Great ruin to visit with children. Steep climb, interesting explanations on the history of the region and castle. At the bottom of the castle is the best ice cream shop of all the lake area :).

My visit to Balatonfoldvar for the Balaton Sound music festival 2023 was a remarkable experience. Nice city, definitely suitable for a holiday. The center near the port is beautiful, well-kept. Around the road to the port there are many options to satisfy your thirst and hunger. There is also a smaller zoo, which is not large in size, but is largely contact-based, so it is an experience for children.
