The property is huge, really well developed, and nicely maintained. The new pool is done and looks amazing — it’s going to be such a great addition to the place. It’s right by the river, so you can constantly hear the water flowing — honestly one of the most peaceful sounds to wake up to. You can walk around and explore so many little corners of the property. If you love plants and animals, it’s a paradise. There’s always something new to spot. Even outside the property, the views are beautiful, and the locals are super friendly. The best part of my stay though was the host, Jro, and her family. They were incredibly kind and welcoming. I had a long chat with her husband — such an interesting guy, full of knowledge and great stories. The staff were also lovely — friendly, helpful, and clearly work really hard to make sure everything runs smoothly. I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend it. If you stay, get a bike — it’s the best way to explore the town!

This wonderful place was in top3 best stays on our Southeast Asia trip. The view is breathtaking, the people are the kindest, surrounding and facilities are beautiful. We had a lovely, relaxing stay. Restaurant was also very nice. The staff helped us even in situations like finding a driver at impossible times. Highly recommended, hope will come back one time!:)

Fantastic location in front of Ocean, with great views. Amazing staff, friendly and always willing to help. The food at the restaurant was excellent, as a vegetarian there were lots of choices and every one was delicious. Pool was very clean and had lovely views of the ocean. Villa was also very clean and had great views. Big thanks to all the staff for making it a memorable and wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Candi Beach. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until we left. Our two rooms were both well appointed and very comfortable....they were clean and maintained well. The breakfast buffet had a big choice of food to suit all tastes and was regularly replaced. We ate in 3 of the hotel restaurants and enjoyed the food we ate. The gardens are beautiful and a lovely place to relax. We enjoyed swimming in the pools and also felt safe in the sea. But what makes this place special is the staff.....they were all so friendly, always smiling and went out of their way to help you. Special mention to Susi on reception for her warm welcome to the hotel and also all the staff at the pool bar who always served us with a smile. It was a lovely stay at this hotel.

The resort is beautifully placed between the rice terraces. The bamboo house we stay in (Alila) had fantastic views from the bedroom and upper terrace. There are 2 infinity swimming pools. The bigger one has a better view but the small one felt like our private pool. The breakfast was very tasty. In the restaurant you can enjoy a delicious food. It is difficult to choose whether to stay inside or outside because the restaurant is so beautiful. There is a spa in the resort. It’s perfect as well but a bit more expensive than what we experience in other places in Bali.

Everything. The place is like heaven on earth. The garden with its 100 species of plants is amazing. The silence, the piece, the colorful flowers.. The staff is super nice,the spa and massages amazing. We also took the complimentary trekking which I strongly recomand as the guide brings you to the foundation near by, and the house of the ibu founder, explains you a lot about the Balinese culture and about all the flowers, plants and agricultural Balinese method.

Amed is low key and a bit ramshackle. I liked it for those reasons. Background of dramatic mountains. Vibe is completely different to other parts of Bali. It’s not a party location and there is no glossy posse.

The view from the pool is excellent.

The view from the pool is excellent. The building construction needs improving with many examples of poor workmanship, chipped bath, misaligned electricals, tiles falling off. The layout would be great for three couples as all rooms are stand alone, but did not suit our family. The lounge is open air so mosquitos and bugs meant heavy use of DEET. You have to go outside into the rain to enter bedrooms, also not great. This property needs to be finished structurally, with an entire area upstairs not completed and construction equipment lying around.

Normally, It’s a lot quieter than most other towns in Bali. Unfortunately there are major workings to fortify the beach fronts presently. Beach closures are taking place, which apparently may take a further 12 to 24 months to complete.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries. There are plenty of eateries around. The beach is unfortunately littered with rubbish and stray dogs roam around. It’s not somewhere to stay for long. There is a dive centre so it might be good for that, but for me as a general tourist I wouldn’t take a holiday here. I just stayed for the fast boats.

A little village with one main street.

A little village with one main street. Lots of diving opportunities. There was a 3 day festival happening when we were here that had a night market and dancing, including a fire dance. We got to mingle with the locals, kind folk, which was nice. It's a pretty easy scoot to some of the temples, rice fields, waterfalls, beaches, and attractions in the area. Decent local restaurants, good massages, good accessible shore dives. Easy enough to find a scooter rental for 70k-85k per day, ask the owner of where you're staying. During our stay in late October, there was a lot of haze in the air (maybe from burning?) so unfortunately, there weren't good sunrises or sunsets.

It is close to the mother temple of Bali (15 minutes), Blue lagoon diving and Snorkeling, p Pura Tirta and the most amazing rafting site. So a 3-night stay at this place is ideal to cover east Bali and then you can go to Ubud.

We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven.

We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven. I feel is enough to see the surroundings and have a feel of the place. We found the tickets a bit expensive. I mean is a nice place but not to pay 10$. You can see Tirtagangga in 20 minutes, depending on whether you are an instagramer and you take selfies in every corner, then you can stay there for over an hour, although is very difficult to take good selfies as there are people everywhere. Around the entrance, there are a few restaurants and shops. But please I would say to the owners or whoever takes care of this place, tell people not to feed the fish. They are huge! and it's because the shops nearby sell food so you can take a picture with the fish.

Seraya is definitely a place to recommend. If you are looking for authenticity, pristine beaches (Virgin beach), local culture (Lempuyang Temple, Tirta Gangga Water Palace & Local Coffee Farm, etc.), you will definitely love the place!

The area is wonderful with so many things to do.

The area is wonderful with so many things to do. From beautiful beaches, horse riding, ATV driving, ziplining, monkeys, surfing, fishing, great local restaurants and day trips all over the island. Much quieter than the south and west of the island so you get a real look at traditional Balinese culture, not bogan booze buses and nightclubs.

Amed is such a peaceful location perfect for people wanting to enjoy scuba, snorkeling, massage, nice food and beautiful scenery. It was very affordable, and you could do as little or as much as you wanted in terms of activities.
