This was our first experience staying in an old castle. To say the least, way-higher-than-expected quality - facility, restaurant, bedroom, afternoon tea, hospitality from staff, you name it. This is worth it.

The breakfast was first rate, made to order and as they like to say in Ireland "prefect". Rolf had some marmalades on the table and I commented about how good they were. He explained how they came from Annie's Bakery in town and how he procures as much as he can from local supplies and farmers. We stopped at Annie's on our way out of town and purchased three jars of marmalade as well as some yummy pastries. Annie was a lovely lady who was welcoming and a joy to chat with. This is what I loved most about out experiences, meeting people and contributing to their local economy. Upon check-in I had a very unusual request, an 'above and beyond' request and Rolf didn't skip a beat in making sure my request was taken care of. Our room was clean, quite with a lovely window facing the bay. While my wife and I were reading in our room we could here cow's and sheep in the background, really tranquil and nice. This place is special and Rolf makes it extra special. My wife and I wished we had time to spend more days and if ever given the chance we will no doubt come back.

All round everything was amazing. Great staff. Beautiful interior design throughout. But the highlight had to be the bed, out of maybe 10 hotels I've stayed in over the past year or 2, the bed we had in the g was the comfiest bed I've ever experienced. Seems silly but honestly it was just incredible how comfortable it was and just the room as a whole. Thanks to the staff for making it such a memorable stay.

The whole experience was excellent from checking in until checking out. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable. As I have coeliac I was very pleased to see I was well catered for and the breakfast had a separate station where I knew there wouldn't be any cross contamination. The food was out of this world and we will definitely be back in the summer.

You have to check out the Latin district and market square. We ate at dough bros and our pizza was delicious! If you have kids(or are just fun and whimsical yourself) they have some carnival rides in the square. We rode the ferris wheel and the merry go round and it was a lot of fun.

One of my favourite Irish cities - Sligo has it all. Great shops and event spaces including a great theatre and a sizeable event arena. The pubs are brilliant and offer entertainment year round. The city centre is very walkable and everything you need is close by. The restaurants on offer are among the best in Ireland including top spots like Eala Bhán and Hooked, locally owned and sourcing local high quality produce.

We enjoyed our 3 days, walking, shopping, eating out as well as the entertainment/music in the bars too! Westport is a great place to visit, we also took a drive down to the harbour annd did had a walkabout in the harbour area, and we went to Achill Island too! Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The National Museum of Ireland is just a few minutes drive away. Castlebar is ideally located for exploring County Mayo. The local library is excellent too with very friendly helpful staff who were only too willing to help with a little family history enquiry. We only stayed for one night and had our main meal in Lana, an Asian restaurant. The food was lovely and plentiful. So much so, we didn't bother with breakfast the following day.

This is just the loveliest place to visit and stay a while. The tourist office will guide you to great things to do! Guys on the Main Street is a good choice for eating. There are many restaurants to choice from. It’s easy to walk around the town and window shop. And if you can visit whilst the arts festival is on, that’s even better! You’ll want to return…
