Lovely restful and calm stay with friendly and accommodating staff, a bus stop outside the door and ample and easily accessible parking. The room was modern, well equipped and comfortable. The breakfast selection was reasonable considering we had booked the room thinking breakfast was not included. Cliffs of Moher Hotel out-did themselves!

What a beautiful Lodge. From the minute we arrived we were greeted with the warmest welcome, Staff who showed us directly to our room which we thought was a lovely touch. The room was incredible we had two double beds which were the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in we did not want to leave. A lovely touch of water in the rooms, beautiful array of tea coffee and a delicious choice of biscuits. The staff were very warm and welcoming we will most definitely be returning. Well done to all the team.

Charming little town with quick access to the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher. The pubs in town pride themselves on showcasing traditional Irish music and nobody does it better... and may I say the Irish Stew at McDermotts Pub is AMAZING! Add the Doolin Caves to the mix and this Irish town is a Winner!!!

Ennis is a really nice town to visit.

Ennis is a really nice town to visit. There's a nice atmosphere to the place. Even though the whole of the centre was being dug up for improvements it was still really interesting to walk around. The bars were great. Good music and never closed if you were still drinking, it seemed.

Nice little seaside town, close to various places, the cliffs of Moher, Doolin. Lovely beach, you can learn to surf. Some very nice shops and art galleries. Easy walking, and there's a regular bus to take you further afield.

Difficult to find.

Difficult to find. No silage on the road leading to the house no sign outside the house. No light outside the door for a guest coming in at night. Used my phone light to unlock door. Owner's room upstairs bathroom was between the rooms. No privacy! Breakfast was small. Tea made from a teabag in a cup. No teapot..No cereals left out. For the money paid it was very poor. Host imposing one doesn't feel comfortable eating!!..

Easy access by public transportation (route 350 from Ennis and Galway), ambiance with both light and lively overhead music. Pubs serving fresh and hearty meals, hilly, breezy and rainy turing to summy almost every morning and great views.

The overall village look was lovely....but some of the pub standards were very poor and run down....I know this can add to a traditional feel but the Guinness in the pub was poor, as this is a tourist area, this needs to be much improved and the pub we ate in the service was good but overpriced completely....I thought Kinvara would have been better and I would certainly visit but would not need to stay for very long....I was expecting better but I appreciate everyone is trying to make a living and the season is almost over....

Ballyvaughan is a lovely town.

Ballyvaughan is a lovely town. We went to a seasonal farmer's market and got some lovely art by a local artist. We wished me made a dinner reservation at Duke's but was able to get there the next day for lunch instead. We had a rental car, but ended up walking back from town which was about 15 min and used a safety vest from the lodge. The road is narrow and dark, but we got back safely. There are 2 cab/drivers in town and we were not able to reach either so make your own transportation plans. We went to the Aillwee Burren Experience and had a good time - it was raining, but they had covered areas and it was just fine. The Birds of Prey portion was just amazing, but the cave tour was also excellent.

I came for the Match making festival so that is what I am going to focus on. First of all, plan way ahead, I started in early August, which was way to late. Go for the Friday and weekends! Most of the local singles don't go during the work days, it is not like a music festival that blast on for the entire work week. On the contrary it dies down during the work days. If you are there on a regular work day it will mostly be a senior event. Do find Willie Dailys phone number in advance and call him once you are in Lisdoonvarna. Then go to his donkey farm or the match making bar depending on how he instructs you over the phone and get matched. Also plan this part of the journey as something you do first as you will need time to go out and meet the singles. I made a mistake and put it last in my journey across Ireland, limiting the window of time I could spend with the singles. Apart from the locals there are many Americans! If you are from the United States or want an American I think Willie got a few singles for you. Alas it is more lacking when it comes to people from the rest of Europe. Where to get food in Lisdoonvarna? I ate at the Ritz, I really liked the food there especially their chowder.

Lakeside Lodge is a haven of tranquility nestling in the beautiful countryside of County Clare. I had arranged a surprise weekend away for my husband to the book festival in nearby Ennistymon. Our host, Cliodhna, was absolutely fantastic. From our first communication, Cliodhna was exceptional. The apartment itself is tastefully decorated and finished to a very high specification. We loved having breakfast in the dining area looking at the views over the Lickeen Loch. Cliodhna had kindly left some fresh bread, jam, biscuits, milk and a bottle of wine for our arrival. The Nespresso machine was a nice touch. Great shower with fountain style head. One of the most peaceful places we have ever stayed. Thank you so much, Cliodhna. We will definitely be back as soon as we can steal away again.
