- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 366 reviewsDjupavik is in a wonderfully remote area on the Strandir coast. It's reached by a well-maintained gravel road that follows the shoreline. The village itself is tiny, with the hotel as its only business. The hotel buildings are historic structures that were originally part of the fish processing plant from the 1930s, which is still standing. The hotel manager/chef gives an outstanding tour of the fish factory, very highly recommended. There's an art gallery with rotating exhibits in the factory. An excellent Icelandic breakfast is included. Also available are very good homemade soup and bread at lunchtime, and really delicious lamb, fish and vegetarian meals at dinner. The dining room is cozy and filled with interesting artifacts. The staff members are friendly and accommodating. Exploring the shoreline is interesting, especially at low tide. Hiking in the area is excellent, and the hills and waterfall above the town are interesting to explore.Guest review byIsabelUnited States
- From US$244.64 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 728 reviewsThe accomodations and establishment are very nice. The whole feeling of this place is very unique. It's not just a place where the views are amazing, but also a farm where you can see horses and also 2 very nice dogs. You have a hot sprint outside and inside. We've been in Iceland 3 times and here we ate the best food from all the places. This guesthouse is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. I will not be surprised if in the future people will visit the west fjords only to stay here. I can't recommend it enough. Thank you so much for having us. Wished we stayed longer!Guest review byKristineRomania
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 346 reviewsEasy to find and right opposite the bay. Lots of parking. Good breakfast. Had a meal one night which was great and nice waiters. Good welcome at reception. A bakery just around the corner which sold rolls and provisions and pieces of pizza too. Most people visited the bird cliffs I expect judging from all the dusty cars. Worth the drive there and last day we visited the famous inland waterfalls at Dynjandi………which were amazing and loos there. Only signposted 2hen nearly there but you get an awesome view of interior and #nowline. Really good.Guest review byMichelleUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 180 reviewsThis lovely place was very calm and the employee was kind and very helpful. The place is located next to the main road, at the beginning of the Westfjords, so it was really convenient to stay there. The view is beautiful, There is a gas pump so we could also fill our tank right before leaving in the morning. Our stay was really affordable and we do not regret booking this place. The decoration in the lounge/dining room is lovely and antique!Guest review byStéphanieCanada
- From US$121 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.1Good - What previous guests thought, 614 reviewsThere was a small kitchen in this studio flat which had a nice comfy bed, a small table to eat at and a small bathroom with shower. It was located on the upper floor, in one of the older style traditional buildings, situated a short walk from the harbour and shops. It was good value for money.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom

Breakfast is in a different building, but literally less than 100m walk. Staff were incredibly kind to us, we arrived late on after a very long drive, and my son was very grumpy.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom

Very nice town.
Very nice town. Was the starting and stopping point for multiple day bicycle tour of Westfjords. People were great especially Tyler Wacker of Cycling Westfjords who provided advice and support for our tour.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 8.0
I loved the location.
I loved the location. We enjoyed a squall while hunkering down in the main dining area. Only complaint was that the access to turn on the lights in the main sitting/dining area was behind a sign that said no access/staff only. Cute and charming place with some rooms having a beautiful ocean view. There is a museum next door where we ate as during the time of year we visited was the only restaurant open. It was delicious and had a great selection for the size of the restaurant. The town is very picturesque and also has a church with rainbow steps leading up the side of a hill.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0
Patró is my old hometown, I was born here and I love it.
Patró is my old hometown, I was born here and I love it. The beautiful mountain scenery, the still evenings like nowhere else and the amazing nature to visit in the area, Rauðasandur, Látrabjarg and the Folkmuseum at Hnjótur to name some. Don't miss out on the dining at Stúkuhúsið, we went their night after night and always got really delicious food every time. Local fish and lamb meat. Another spot not to miss is the swimming pool "with a view" and take time to visit "Pollurinn" The Hot Pool, only 25 minutes away open 24/7 Try the "Ærslabelgur" the trampolin in the town center plus the swings (any age) to add to the fun! Take a stroll down to the harbour, and alongside the waterfront. Sometimes you might even spot a whale nearby!Guest review byÞóreyIceland - 10.0
very small quiet fishing village in north Iceland.
very small quiet fishing village in north Iceland. There is a store, and a gas station. There are hot spa pools by the sea. In the summer there is a ferry to a small island less than a km off the coast, where there are puffins.Guest review byJulietNew Zealand - 10.0
I love Iceland.
I love Iceland. This is my third trip and I would love to come back. The place is incredible. Very different from most of your world travel destinations. Love the people, the landscape and the peace and quiet.Guest review byMikeCanada - 6.0
The guest house is brand new.
The guest house is brand new. There is very little maintenance and no hospitality to speak of. It is as though you are offered a room (clean, good sized) and a kitchen (well stocked), but once you are there, you are on your own. Very little cleaning done in the shared spaces, none at all in the room. No wifi available in the room. Too bad. The guest house really needs some TLC.Guest review byInbalIsrael - 10.0

Spacious, comfortable and updated place to relax that was between the areas we wanted to explore. We were able to see the puffins at Latrabjarg and the largest waterfall in Europe, Dynjandi with a drive from this location. The host was very friendly and even informed us that he saw the Northern lights the night before since he knew my husband was a photographer.Guest review byJoelUnited States - 8.0
I would have liked to spend more time in Súðavík.
I would have liked to spend more time in Súðavík. I had just read Satu Rämö's crime novel "Hildur" where action took place in Súðavík. It's the great book! I recomment to read it and then explore the places described in te book. We had no time to do it unfortunately for different reasons. By the way, Súðavík apartment is a very nice place to stay!Guest review byAnonymousEstonia - 10.0
The idea base camp for time spent in the Westfjords region.
The idea base camp for time spent in the Westfjords region. If you have a rental car, you can drive anywhere else you'd like to see, but Ísafjörður has the most options for town activities. The location in the fjord is incredible. I would visit again.Guest review byMichael - 10.0
Holmavik is a beautiful village on the Steingrimsfjordur...
Holmavik is a beautiful village on the Steingrimsfjordur with charming architecture (especially the church!) and nice restaurants. It's a perfect stop on your way to or from the West Fjords. We stayed there the last night of our 6-night visit in the West Fjords in order to be close to Drangsnes, where we were taking a boat to Grimsey Island and whale watching the next day. I booked a room in Holmavik because there weren't any available in Drangsnes, but we were so glad I did! We visited the national Witchcraft Museum while in Holmavik and ate out in one of its many restaurants. We loved Holmavik and will certainly come back on our next trip to Iceland.Guest review byJoyceUnited States
