We were both truly surprised by the professionalism and passion with which this small hotel is run. The gastronomic offer is absolutely outstanding — from the exquisite wines to the sensational food, everything exceeded our expectations. The welcome was warm and effortless, making us feel at home from the first moment. Even though the hotel is not directly on Lake Orta but set slightly back from it, that only adds to its charm — it’s quiet, relaxing, and surrounded by beautiful nature. A real hidden gem that we can wholeheartedly recommend!

Staying in Orta San Giulio is a truly unique experience. Although the city is forbidden for cars (limited traffic zone), Massimo provided us with a pickup-point and guided us to a central parking garage after which he drove us back to the b&b; the welcome was nice and efficient, with Massimo explaining the village and sharing a full list of culinary recommendations, which we immediately tried out. From the well-equipped and clean room (with surprisingly comfortable beds, normally I always have my issues) we had a balcony and a great view over the lake and the island. The room was very comfortable, with complementary beverages in the mini-bar (water, cola, Fanta). A small street (with barely traffic) separates the main building from the wonderful garden with private lake-access (this is an absolute highlight). A diverse and rich breakfast is provided.

Located in the village of Pettenasco, this studio apartment is literally by the lake. The studio is modern and comfortable. The balcony overlooks directly to the lake. The Cascina allows direct access to the lake for swimming and water sports like kayaking. The studio is equipped with a small kitchenette which is very convenient for heating up simple ready to eat meals and making hot drinks. Checking in was a breeze and the hosts allowed us to check in earlier than anticipated. Both Carolina and Francesca were both very hospitable and gave us a warm welcome. The car parking is about 50 meters away from the accommodation and there is a gate for security reason. There are plenty of walks and hikes around the area. We highly recommend this Cascina to any traveller staying in Orta San Guilo.

Casa di Lago was just exactly what we hoped for - and more - just a short walk from the centre of town where the most difficult thing was deciding which restaurant to eat at. We loved our small terrace where we could breakfast or occasionally lunch - and the views from all of the bedroom balconies. But the best part for us was the private lakeside garden - I wouldn’t recommend it for children who cannot swim, as there is no really ‘shallow end’ - but for us it was simply bliss - time for a much needed relax. Reception staff were charming and very responsive, and there was free parking a short distance away. I can’t wait to return, hopefully bringing family and friends.

An exceptional site near the lake with a superb view. The apartment has direct access to the 2ha garden. There is everything you need to cook, if you don't want to go to the restaurant. Luca and Melissa are extremely welcoming and helpful hosts who know how to make your stay enjoyable. Even the cats and the dog of the house enjoy the presence of visitors. This is a family house with soul and history ! Several hiking trails are accessible directly from the property. A restaurant and a grocery shop are within walking distance.

The Approdo is superbly located by the Cinderella lake, Lago D’Orta. Rooms are clean, comfortable, quiet and the staff very helpful. The Buffet breakfast catered for all nationalities with a great choice of food. Staff at the pool shack made an iced espresso that kept the energy levels up. Can’t fault this property.

There were market stalls on Thursday. Extremely helpful and patient locals (we speak a tiny, tiny amount of Italian). Great local takeaways, cafe's and restaurants. A couple of supermarkets if you really want them but why would you with all the local shops selling the best cheese, meats, bread and pastries.

If you are seeking peace, tranquility and natural beauty - this is the place for you. No children and gorgeous lake - much smaller than Como or Maggiore but you can easily get to Maggiore in 30 minutes if you want more life. Gorgeous restaurant which the hostess arrange for us with taxi to and from included just down the road and a little local Osteria 30 meters away for a truly local experience.

Here, I was welcomed by a nice Italian Older Lady at Church who was from the town. Within a few days, I made friends with another Italian lady and her friend. It was good to get to know new people there. My neighbors were friendly to me too even though they didn't speak any English. I hope to go back to see them again. There was lots of Nature and Hikes. Lake Orta was 10 km away. Buses are accessible to there. Milan is 2 hrs by train from there. It was a Unique Experience for me in Italy.

Loved the building we stayed in and the hosts were lovely and informative. The area is less touristy than Como and has a peaceful charm about the place. Some of the restaurants in Orta were less than charming but that can happen anywhere. Next time we would stay longer and explore the hiking potential.

We only had one nights stay at the hotel as a stopover coming from france travelling down through Italy, however it was exactly what we expected and more. A really lovely location with a great aspect, Monte Bianco was viewable from our room balcony. it was very clean and the staff were helpful. the food was nice, however i would of liked to seen an itemised bill for our food, when we checked out. On retrospect i'm not sure if i was overcharged slightly for our dinner. If that was the case its partly my fault for not enquiring further. Having said this we would definitely return if we took this route again. Peaceful and enjoyable stay with clean nice rooms.

We loved the place.

We loved the place. Taking boats to the village's and th island is a must. The restaurant on the island is wonderful with great food and if you sit by the window as we did a wonderful view. You also need to walk up the sacred mount to see all the chapels. The place is not a mass tourist place so visit now before others find it.

Very good welcome from the two brothers who run the Battle of Britain hotel. We had lunch and it was served in a large dining room overlooking lake Orta and the beautiful gardens downstairs. The view is stunning. Lunch was very pleasant. Good beef carpaccio served with plenty of parmigiano and small salads on side. I discovered a new Italian dessert called Bonet, a speciality from Turin. Efficient and friendly staff 👏👏
