Beautiful beach and cliffs around the town. Unfortunately not many restaurants and option to eat. The litters are on the beach and no one cares there. Cassibile in itself is a pretty normal town.
Cassibile in itself is a pretty normal town. There are all the amenities one would expect to find - pretty much within walking distance of the property we stayed in. There are some fabulous pizzerias which are worth trying out. The area is about 20 minutes from the main city by car. It is a quiet area with simple reasturants on an undeveloped sea inlet. There are farms and boat yards on the bay. The area does not have many tourists so if you’re wanting to getaway from city life this may suit you. I would say a car is necessary to explore this area. Loved the island of Ortigia, from where you can visit the key attractions of Syracuse. We enjoyed our visit to the Neapolis archeological park with its spectacular ancient Greek theatre, the Roman amphitheatre and ancient stone quarries, with its the ear of Dionysus and impressive acoustics. The park's display of bronze and metal sculptures are an added bonus. A rainy afternoon was spent in the archeological museum. On Ortigia, we liked our visit to the castle, strolling the streets and choosing where to eat from the many fine restaurants. The archeological ruins, catacombs in Siracusa and the Jewish baths in Ortigia are all worth visiting. We spent a couple of days doing the above and the other sights and it felt about the right length of time. I would recommend the area for a short trip for the beach. In truth, we didn't venture anywhere else other than the villa and the beach as we went there for a change away from the cities we were visiting, but there didn't seem to be a lot to do in the area besides that anyway.
