Great location and close to many local bars, restaurants and the Main Street. Room was huge by Japan standards, and very clean and space efficient. Staff were so friendly, and shared personal recommendations on what to see and do in the area. Will definitely be staying here again when we’re back in Kyoto.

    Wow. This hotel completely exceeded my expectations. The rooms were huge, bright and very well stocked. The washer/dryer in the room was a godsend for us as a family with a baby and the bathroom was luxurious with a freestanding bathtub. The staff are very welcoming and downstairs there is a cafe and salad bar all with fresh colourful ingredients. This hotel was 1/3 the price of the more popular family suites chain in Japan but it was every bit as good if not better

    The location was everything!! It's walkable to many major tourist spots like Kiyomizu-dera. Also good for those who wants to get pictures with the Hokan-ji pagoda in the early morning without anyone. The room was cute and have everything you need for your stay. Plus the staffs were so super friendly, helpful and good in English. I will definitely choose this hotel again for the next visit in Kyoto.

    I chose this hotel for the location mainly but when we checked in, the place was pretty nice and spacious and we were able to really feel comfortable with our stay in Kyoto.     Japan is not the old Japan back 10 years ago. I want to see people speak Japanese to me instead of Chinese or English. Unfortunately, too many foreigners workers working on convenience stores etc. Although overcrowded everywhere, people are polite and in good manners that I see. Overall, we enjoy the trip very much! Will come back again because still lots of places that I want to visit or visit again!

    Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.

    Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

    Kyoto is a big city for someone like me, coming from a small and quiet country. The moment I arrived, I was amazed by how vibrant and full of life it was — every corner seemed to have something fascinating to see or experience. But if you don’t speak the language or plan ahead, it’s easy to feel a little lost in the fast pace and busyness. Thankfully, I was blessed to have friends there who guided me around, making it so much easier to explore and discover the beauty of Kyoto.

    I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.

    Kyoto is always fun to visit: because each destination’s ambience changes with the seasons, it is nearly impossible to exhaust the choices of temples, shrines and Japanese gardens to enjoy, even over multiple visits. Plus, Kyoto offers a wide range of dining alternatives. Looking for less crowded alternatives to the most popular sites such as Kiyomizudera and Fushimi Inari Shrine? Some choices to consider are Honen-in, Eikan-do, Okuno-in and Chion-in on the east side, Kennin-ji with its “dragon ceiling” in Gion, or Sanjusangendo not far from Kiyomizu Dera. If you are heading to the famous Kinkaku-ji, be sure to visit Ryoanji’s renowned garden, of course, and for a true escape from Kyoto’s crowds, wander through the quiet, extensive grounds of Myoshinji, where you absolutely must linger to admire the exquisite Japanese garden at Taizo-in.
