- From US$257.19 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,244 reviewsMarvellous view of the city, sea, vulcan from the room. Fantastic breakfast in food quantity and quality, we ate outside on the patio of the breakfast restaurant. A lot of warm dishes, a lot of choice and also finest French patisserie. Fantastic onsen in the hotel. Fantastic nature and forest around the hotel. Very quiet at night. We used the bus coach to reach the city from the hotel, we also walked during the day through the pedestrian walk in the marvellous forest. To reach the entrance of the walk from the hotel, just follow the indication "Promenade" from the hotel: it is super easy: get out of the main entrance of the hotel, walk to the left, walk 100mt up to the kiosks selling tourist stuff, here follow indication "Promenade", it is other 70mt , and then take the path going down, it is not a road, it is very easy and very wide trail.Guest review bydomenicoSwitzerland
- From US$173.19 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 329 reviewsIt was an exceptional stay, and we thoroughly enjoyed the use of the space, combining both modern and traditional aesthetics. There were several little nooks that added surprise as we slowly discovered them at our own pace. We were delighted with the showcase of local ceramics and tea, and the welcome tea started us on our little tea journey, the start of a relaxing two days spent here. There was plenty of seating all around the ryokan, to relax, to wait, to medidate, to just stare into nature… A big thank you to all the staff we met, from the station pick up to the small conversations at breakfast. Looking forward to visit again at a different season to experience it anew.Guest review byRuthSingapore
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 466 reviewsStayed 1 night at this hotel. Room was clean and essential items were provided for. Room was large enough for the twin beds and the beds were comfortable. The hotel was situated on a hill away from the city centre. The view of Nagasaki city from the hotel rooftop was beautiful both in the day and night. The onsen in the hotel was clean and large. There's fee carpark and large enough for many cars. Highly recommended.Guest review byStevenSingapore

Extensive facilities, like a bedrock bath that you don't find everywhere. The food was exceptional as expected, the chef was extremely nice and made us feel welcome. I would recommend to speak a little bit of Japanese to go here though.Guest review byAndreasUnited Kingdom

Loved the city - quiet night, we walked along from our hotel in a busy small street to an all-Vegan restaurant (Bogoro All Vegan) and walked back. it was a great experience. Don't miss Canal City Hakata - it's expensive but worth a visit.Guest review byBaluNew Zealand - 10.0

Yuhoen Fruit Farm to enjoy fruit picking and unlimited serving of fruits picked within an hour. There were Hosui pears, Kyoho and Fuji Minori grapes. Great experience! Kumamoto castle is a must visit as well as to savour horse sashimi.Guest review byEricSingapore - 8.0

It's a spa town with a lot of history and a very energetic red-light district. Lots of money being invested in new tall buildings in the centre of the business district that don't quite jive with the otherwise laid-back (if you'll pardon the expression) atmosphere of the town. Attractive coastline and tall mountains as the backdrop.Guest review bydavidJapan - 10.0
Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold.
Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold. Food here is great and the Satsuma Japanese wonderful. Black is a lucky color in Kagoshima thus the my son's Rebnise basketball team wears black at home games. Taxis are always available at stations and it is not far from anywhere. A day trip to Ibuski's sand baths is recommended - on fine days. Plenty of public natural mineral water onsens are available. Shiroyama's has a fantastic view .The ferry ride and Rainbow Onsen on Sakurajima is great.Guest review byJohn CantorAustralia - 10.0
We got one day pass for the buses.
We got one day pass for the buses. It was so easy and very convenient to go and see places. We explore the city by changing the buses. The places of interest were in walking distance from the bus stops; Peace Park, Urakami Catholic Church, Basilica OURA ( UNESCO ), Glover garden, Megane Bridge and much more. With the City bus you can not go outside the city.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Morning walk along the waterway when there were not many tourists was peaceful and enjoyable. The are lots of small shops on the main street, but might be too crowded to enjoy. The shops close around 5pm. My favorite eating place was Pizzeria Kunugi no Oka; good food and good view of the Yufu city.Guest review byMukPThailand - 6.0
Not a great deal to do or see in Oita.
Not a great deal to do or see in Oita. The castle ruins holds some interest. A very friendly man in a temporary office in the car park helpfully explained more about the castle and it's moats. Could use Oita as a base for visiting Beppu if you can't get accommodation there By train it's only 280 yen and 12 minutes away.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Really great seaside town with a large American influence due to the military base in town. The food was great and the night scene lovely as well, though I wish I had more time to visit the Bio Park - will plan to go next time! Haus Ten Bosch was a really unique experience and I'm glad I went!Guest review byAnnaUnited States
