First of all: Thank you for the exceptional customer service both throughout our stay and afterwards. I left an item in the room and the staff kindly contacted me and then went through the trouble of posting it to me overseas. This boutique hotel is architecturally stunning and modern, peaceful location is a couple of minutes walk from the train station. We had a very nice room with great beds on 4th floor with a clear view of Mt Fuji (provided the weather was good). Hotel offers excellent free amenities (coffee, toiletries etc.). as well as a discount to the wonderful Fujiyama onsen which is a a unique experience just a cheap 2 km taxi ride away. They also have good restaurant recommendations and a friendly Italian food truck parked at he front in the evenings also sold nice pasta. Downstairs has a good common kitchen and lounge area. Great roof terrace with 360 views. I highly recommend Megu Fuji for your stay at Mt Fuji.

We only stayed one night, we would have loved to stay longer. The room was beautiful, bright, with a view of Mount Fuji. Everything was very clean and tidy, and the location was excellent, just 2 or 3 blocks from the station. Thank you as well for the keychain you gave us, such a lovely souvenir.

What a lovely hotel – three stars but definitely deserves more. Our room was a traditional Japanese Ryokan with tatami flooring and three futons. We had a fabulous view of Mount Fuji from our bedroom window with clear skies for each of the four nights we stayed here. The hotel is a short drive to the Fujikawaguchiko ropeway and within walking distance of surrounding restaurants, convenience stores, a supermarket, etc. The team of staff at Kawaguchiko Park is super-friendly and helpful. Two of the guys washed down our car one morning after some Autumn leaves had falled on top of it. We used the open-air Onsen each of the four evenings we were there, it’s calm, clean and beautiful. There are also two massage chairs that proved very popular with my daughters – provided for free. Japanese breakfast at the Kawaguchiko Park Hotel was a beautiful experience – very traditional items all laid out carefully for us on our table. We had no idea what most of them were but there was plenty to eat to start each of our days. Thank you to the team at Kawaguchiko Park Hotel – we loved staying with you and hope to return one day.

This city is definitely a must when it comes to mount fuji base cities. It's so calm and quiet, and at the same time it has a lot of tourism, which means it has the necessary infrastructure, but you don't feel like it is a crowded and busy city like the big ones. This is one of the places i loved the most in my entire trip to japan.

Fujiyoshida offers beautiful views of Mt.

Fujiyoshida offers beautiful views of Mt. Fuji — on a clear day, you can see the mountain from almost anywhere in town. It’s very close to Mt. Fuji and other nearby attractions, making it a great base for exploring the area. I actually prefer staying in Fujiyoshida over Kawaguchiko because it’s less crowded but just as convenient and scenic.

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.

Hokuto is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track destination, perfect for a weekend or even 3 or four days. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place for hikers - since it's located at the base of the Yatsugatake mountain range. The adventurers can go explore the hiking trails and waterfalls, but also there are charming cafes, art galleries and international cuisine restaurants splattered in the area. I would avoid going there by car on a Saturday morning, because the Chuo Express Road gets packed and it may take up to six hours to get there from Tokyo (the normal is 2 hours). So if you can, go on a weekday.

I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hr
