You will truly relax here. The property is pretty much spotless and located just meters from the Indian Ocean, which means you can hear the waves ALL NIGHT. The staff is super attentive and thoughtful, from the caretakers to the bartenders to the management. I was also pleasantly surprised to find real Neapolitan pizza, a wide selection of Italian wines, and caffè corretto with Sambuca (!) – just when I started missing European flavors a bit ;) And if that wasn’t enough, the yoga classes first thing in the morning put you in a blissful mood. Would definitely come back <3

The rooms are little shacks by the beach which gives a charming vibe to the hotel as a whole. The inside is not very modern but is clean, with comfortable beds and AC. The staff is very caring, friendly and helpful. The food there is delicious and comes with a nice view. Lastly the hotel provides all kind of services to lift you stay such as laundry services, tuktuk services (if you need to go to arugam bay) or connexions to book surf lessons or a safari tour.

We felt like home, everything is made for you to feel good, the pool is amazing, bungalows are super comfy, restaurant is really good (even the European food but also the local food not to spicy l, you can ask on demand), owners really helpful, friendly, here for you and the staff is joyful and super friendly to ! Absolutely loved our stay at Oruwa Boutique Villa! This place is a true hidden gem in Arugam Bay. The vibe is peaceful, stylish, and perfectly intimate—far from the crowded hotels. Oruwa villa was beautiful, clean, and just steps from the beach. Waking up to the sound of the surf was magical. The entire team was incredibly warm and attentive, always ready to help with anything from scooter rentals to dinner recommendations. The pool area is an oasis, and the overall design feels both luxurious and effortlessly cool. It's the ideal spot for surfers and travelers looking for a relaxing, high-quality escape. This hotel is brand new, so everything feels clean, fresh, and modern. The facilities are excellent — each room has a lovely outdoor chill-out area, and the garden adds a nice relaxing touch. The location is quiet but close enough to walk to the beach. The accommodation is basic but fully functional and I had the best sleep here each night out of my whole 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Enjoyed being able to choose breakfast from the menu. Rifai and family were very friendly and Rifai helped with all my questions and arranged a tuktuk for me. The family have recently opened this accommodation and are currently building another room. Please support local!

We recently enjoyed a lovely stay at Paper Moon in Arugam Bay, and it was the perfect place for our family to rest and relax. Nestled just outside of town, this charming spot offered us the tranquility we were looking for, away from the hustle and bustle. Our two young children had a fantastic time exploring the beautiful grounds and spent countless hours swimming in the pool, which we also thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere was inviting, and it felt like a home away from home. The staff at Paper Moon were truly wonderful—warm, friendly, and attentive to our needs. Every morning, we were greeted with smiles and treated to a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast that set the tone for a great day ahead. While this isn’t a luxury escape, the facilities were clean and tidy, with excellent air conditioning that was a lifesaver on hot days. We appreciated the lovely open social areas, allowing us to spend quality time together as a family without disturbing other guests. Overall, we loved our stay at Paper Moon and would definitely come back again! Highly recommended for families looking for a relaxing getaway.

After 2 weeks in Sri Lanka we wanted a luxury one night stay somewhere special, and we certainly got that. The place is beautiful and well kept. The staff are very friendly and professional. The food was fantastic and the chefs clearly know what they are doing. We stayed in a bungalow with your own small private pool, and the bed was so comfortable. It was so nice to have some peace and quiet. Thank you all for a wonderful day and evening. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at this beautiful beach house, surrounded by beaches. It was so quiet there. We had the best walks and sunsets at the beach. Breakfast and dinner was very good. They even provided us with a breakfast bag to take with us when leaving for a safari at 4.45am. And laundry was done too (and it was never that clean and smelled so good on our trip. Staff was great. Thank you so much, would love to come back!

Close to the beach and clean and comfortable bed and bathroom. Comfy bed. Friednly staff. This is the low season in arugambay but we can't imagine low season in Beach Wave because here all rooms are fully booked. Nice hammock in sitting area with small desk and chairs. Some of restaurants open surround area. Superb WiFi connection.

Nice Place is very well located. The manager Reefai is fantastic, full of good advice and references. Thank you for the Lagoon Safari, surfing and Ayurvedic treatment tips, we enjoyed it very much and the DR helped me with my back pain.

You are more likely to meet a European than a local here.

You are more likely to meet a European than a local here. This is definately not a reflection on Sri Lankan culture, however the beach town is slow and quiet (realtively speaking) and there are plenty of shops and restaurants. And of coure, the surf is consistent and the water warm. It's a winner for a beach holiday.

The best feature of Arugam Bay is the surrounding jungle,...

The best feature of Arugam Bay is the surrounding jungle, lakes and lagoons. The main beach is very busy but other beaches, such as Peanut Farm are less crowded, Do thye Lagoon Safari and a park safari but also try surfing and relaxing on the beach.
