Fabulous location right behind the stunning Goyambokka beach, only a minute’s walk through the palm grove – a little slice of paradise. The hotel grounds are extensive and beautifully kept, and we loved spotting the local wildlife while walking through the grove (monkeys, peacocks, hornbills, kingfishers, barbets, monitor lizards etc.). Great food at served at both restaurants, we particularly the authentic Sri Lankan dishes and fresh seafood. Our room was cleaned daily and kept spotless, and the hotel staff were very friendly. The bungalows are beautifully decorated, the food is tasty, there is a massage therapist available on site, and we loved the pool. We also booked a safari, where we saw leopards and sloth bears! However, what really made this place stand out for us, was the exceptional service! The people running Gaga Bees are very sweet, friendly and helpful - they went above and beyond! Keep in mind that it is (1) cash only and (2) it is an eco resort, meaning you will be hearing and perhaps also seeing animals and bugs. Additionally, there is warm water in the shower and a mosquito net at the bed to sleep safe from insects. They are wonderful people with great values, and staying with them is absolutely worth it. Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night.
