Everything is perfect, the location is breathtaking inside the forest . The owners are so friendly and they feel you like you are apart from them. The meals are so delicious and the chef is professional one. The pool is amazing and their is another natural one in the beside river. Rooms are so clean and tidy . We made a last-minute booking and were lucky to get the Sky Villa – a true gem and hidden treasure! The view was absolutely breathtaking, with a private jacuzzi pool and an unbeatable sense of privacy. The service was exceptional, with staff operating at the highest level of professionalism. Totally worth the price. The feeling of being on top of a giant rock is indescribable – truly unique! The room was brand new, and we learned the hotel only opened three months ago. Unbelievable good, the place is amazing. Everything is new and good quality There is a small rooftop infinity pool with a view of the jungle. The room has full length picture windows. The location is simply stunning. Views from the terrace, the pool and the room are incredible regardless of weather. Pool is in a garden setting where the tea bushes meet to edge of the garden. Food good and not unreasonable. Staff very attentive rooms simple and old world charm but all in keeping with the hotels age.

Mohammed showed us around and accommodated us very well! Sameera took us to the river right next to the retreat and swam with us. Indunil checked us out with no issues! And they had free shuttle service. Overall beautiful retreat and location, really enjoyed our time here.

    Lovely stay on the river listening to the sounds of nature while you sleep. One side of the chalets are fully open which is perfect for nature lovers. Surprisingly there are hardly any bugs in the chalets. They keep them really clean. Great value for money, and run by a great team. The meals are enormous and homely. They organise a lovely 1.5 hr rafting trip which ends at the resort itself for 35 usd. The rapids are light, nothing overbearing, great for beginners.

    This is such a unique place!!! Hidden away behind the main road, beautiful spot. I stayed in the cabin: so nice!! Perfect host and beautiful family. Please do have dinner there, amazing home cooked food. Loved it. The small pool was ideal just to cool down in the hot weather. Absolutely recommended!!

    The town is just a town with shops, supermarket etc.

    The town is just a town with shops, supermarket etc. For food, my tour guide Prashan brought me to Upcountry Restaurant which is a nice place with a beautiful scenery. :) Go for the attractions like Bible Rock, Saradiel Hill etc. They are nice.

    Pinnawala basically has 4 main attractions therefore a maximum of 2 days is sufficient. The main attraction is the elephant orphanage. Related to that is the elephant bathing at the nearby river which is fascinating. Remember the ticket you purchase for the orphanage is required for the bathing so do both in the same day as the tickets technically only valid for the day (we did not know this so we went to the orphanage in the evening and went to see the bathing the next day.. however the kind ticket officers let us go). Then there is a mini zoo where animals roam in more space than usual. You can feed animals here which could be fascinating (for a small fee). Then there is a traditional village called Iparini Gama where you can experience live style of a traditional sri lankan village.

    Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants. Unique experience with elephants walking thru the village for their daily bathing. General accommodation facilities were good. Bars and eateries also of reasonable standard. We stayed at Grand Royal Pinnalanda and found this quite satisfactory in services and value.
