The hotel is new, so the room was very nice and clean. There is a terrace with a beautiful view of Lion’s Rock, where a tasty breakfast is served. The location is perfect, there are many restaurants nearby, and it’s quite close to the entrance to Lion’s Rock. The staff were very friendly and arranged a tuk-tuk for us early in the morning, as we wanted to climb Pidurangala Rock for the sunrise.

This is by far the best place you can stay in Sigiriya! The cottage is amazing: huge rooms with everything you need. Amazing shower and lovely view of the garden. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa which was absolutely stunning — spacious, private and beautifully designed, with views that made it hard to leave. The setting itself is incredible, with the water and landscape creating a calm, almost dreamlike atmosphere. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent throughout our stay, and a special mention must go to Madushan, who looked after us at every meal. His attention to detail and genuine warmth really stood out. Our butler, Dilmith, was equally fantastic — he quietly organised everything for us, including our spa sessions which were superb. Nothing was ever too much trouble. All in all, it was one of those rare places that manages to combine luxury with real heart. We left feeling properly rested and already talking about when we might come back.

We had a wonderful stay, especially on such short notice! Nimal and his team went the extra mile to ensure we were looked after. The villa was incredible, placing you right in the centre of nature and on each walk to the restaurant, we saw beautiful birds and even a peacock! My wife and I were both treated to the famous Sri Lankan hospitality, as mentioned by our friends who visited this beautiful country and hats off to the chef for producing mouthwatering food! The chef even taught us how to make pol roti, a delicious breakfast item in Sri Lanka. We wish we booked more days as the resort offers so much! We will certainly recommend this beautiful resort to our friends and even come back here. Thanks, Wild Grass team for the memorable stay!

We loved our stay at sigiriya village and would love to come back ! The staff were so welcoming and kind. The room was lovely and spacious, we had a lovely terrace which we sat and watched all the wildlife. The breakfast was great - something for everyone we enjoyed evening cocktails by the pool! A simply wonderful hotel in a fabulous location in the heart of Sigiriya. The staff are superb, and nothing is too much trouble for them. It doesn’t look anything special from the outside, but when you cross the threshold, you’ll see what a fabulous place this is to stay, with the free fresh fruit drink or coffees on arrival. There’s even a free walking tour to a vegetable garden. The restaurant serves great food, and the breakfasts are amazing.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree...

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from...

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

And no wonder such a wonderful World Heritage Site kept popping up everywhere: Test it against the massive old fortress, the gorgeous frescoes, and images taken of landscapes from the summit, and there you’ll pick one of Sri Lanka’s greatest treasures. Not an easy or casual climb but certainly one that throws panoramic views so very far worth it and lucid into history at every step. Water gardens at the bottom quite worth a visit. One has to get there at dawn to avoid numerous tourists and scorching sun. Thus, in general, Sigiriya is a combination of artistic creation, engineering work of antiquity, and a miracle of nature, and a must-see site in Sri Lanka.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy,...

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
