Hotel River Front was a little piece of paradise for the 2 nights we stayed here (with my husband and 5 year old). The entire property is immaculately clean - from the gardens to the rooms and bathrooms - it was spotless. Room and bathroom was large, good hot water in shower, good air-conditioning, lovely balcony overlooking garden wirh river at the bottom. Pool was fabulous and great to relax around after a safari. We ate dinner at the hotel on both nights. Food was really delicious and good choice. Breakfast was included in the package and was very good (fresh pancakes, fruit, toast, eggs, sausage, etc...). On the morning of our safari they packaged a breakfast up for us which was appreciated. Hotel organised a private safari for us. Channa was our guide and was brilliant. So knowledgeable and went out of his way to ensure we had a great day. We saw loads of animals including leopards and the scenery was stunning. A special thanks to all the staff who made our stay so special- they all do a fabulous job and made us so very welcome. If we are back in the area we would definitely stay here again.

This is the perfect spot to unwind before and after a safari adventure. The location is stunning, with the serene Debarawewa Lake right in front, offering a chance to spot plenty of water birds and even a few crocodiles from a safe distance. The resort staff was incredibly helpful - they arranged a jeep to share for the safari, making it much more affordable. The shared safari option also gave us the chance to connect with other travelers, which was a lovely bonus. The rooms were comfortable, and I loved the cozy communal area in front of them. It’s a great space to relax, exchange safari stories, and chat with fellow adventurers about travel experiences. The atmosphere here is friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. If you're planning a trip to Yala, I highly recommend this place for its comfort, location, and the overall experience it offers. I’d happily stay here again!

We have chosen this accommodation to go to Yala park for a safari and it was an amazing surprise. The host family took care about us in every aspect of our stay. The room was perfectly cleaned and they offered us an amazing Sri Lankan dinner. Also the surrounding area full of culture, history and animals!

Amazing little nature walks in the proximity of the stay. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Best we had in Sri Lanka. Very new and proper infrastructure. Wish we could stay longer to fully immerse in the beautiful environment and jungle life.

This place is just a woww!! We couldn't find a hotel with this kind of a view for this range of price. Absolutely very beautiful and a calm nature. We loved to stay there. The safari tour which one is arranged by the owner was good 💯 Beautiful place, supportive staff. Nice!

Had to give a shoutout to the staff – they were absolutely amazing! Super helpful and really know their stuff. Whether you’re planning to visit the Kataragama Dewalaya or go on a Yala safari, they’ll hook you up with the best options at very reasonable prices. They even have someone who can sort out your “Pooja watti” for you. And if you haven’t pre-ordered food, no stress – they’ll get it delivered from a nearby shop in just a few minutes. The place itself is great too – clean, spacious rooms with hot water. For the price, it’s more than worth it. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a safe, comfortable, and budget-friendly place to stay!

Our whole stay at Wild Coast was magical. We came to celebrate our honeymoon and there could have been no better place. The concept is incredible - a luxurious experience while nestled amidst nature. Staff is incredible and take very good care of you. Food and drinks are incredible. We stayed 2 nights and would have loved to have stayed for longer. Game drives were amazing. We had a spectacular dinner on the beach under the stars. Every minor detail is so carefully and meticulously planned. Wild coast has been a major highlight from travels over the last 15 years.

We loved the location of this hotel. It was beautiful. Our main purpose was to go for Safari, and this hotel is perfectly located from Yala National Park. They even packed us breakfast at 5am, so we can take it with us to Safari. We spent an afternoon at the pool, (and had it all to ourselves which was also a bonus). The food was great, and we had the buffet there. The staff were all amazing. Everyone that worked there, were quite young, but incredibly professional, polite and kind, and they all really went out of their way to help us.

I stayed at EKHO Hotel in Yala for one night, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel has an amazing view and offers excellent facilities. Such a wonderful property and location. Full of wild life. The price is much more reasonable than the other ones close by. It should be on everyone’s itinerary! The safari was amazing- go for the all day! And Jami Riverside Hotel is run by a wonderful host couple and the accommodations were comfortable, clean and affordable. They will make all the safari arrangements with the park for you if you wish. We had a wonderful driver -PHN Kasun Sampath.

This place is amazing.

This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

We’re really glad we chose the Mailagama Cinnamon Residence for our stay in Kataragama. The staff treated us with great respect and warm hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed the hoppers dinner with its absolutely delicious curries. We must also mention that the curd and honey were the best we’ve ever had.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

The White House Inn is a fantastic place to stay in Thissamaharama. It’s situated in a calm and natural setting, making it perfect for relaxation. The inn is also very close to the Yala National Park, which is great for those looking to go on safari. The hotel is clean and comfortable, providing a welcoming atmosphere. The spacious lobby area is a nice spot to unwind. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the food. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the Sri Lankan dishes were absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the White House Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

It definitely is an experience worth trying.

It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

It is a holy place visited by Buddhists and Hindus alike. Some Muslims also visit a mosque located in the sacred area. Buddhist usually visit the Kiri Vehera area first and then come to the Devale premises. There are circular roads to facilitate that sequence. Otherwise, one can walk to the Devale premises and then proceed to the Kiri Vehera premises. There are lot of boutiques selling various items including offerings for Devale. They are located in the town area. After that one has to cross a small bridge over the Menik River to enter the sacred area. Over the years both sides of the river have been re-organized for a better sequential experience.
