CanadaA lovely location that I was only too briefly staying at. I didn't even realize how close it was to so many trails! Genuinely you can walk to them but you're still in the center of a town.
If only I had been there longer - the restaurant and patio out front was absolutely packed and the food looked incredible. It was such a good vibe and it made me wish I wasn't just stopping for a night on my road trip.
There was also parking very easy to find - even though the lot next to them was full, I drove a minute down the road and found a large free lot very easily.

We had a fantastic stay in the White Pearl. The room was lovely, with a large and very comfortable bed. The place is very quiet so after a good night sleep, we went down for a great breakfast served by the owner. The plan was to grab a quick bite and hit the road, but we enjoyed the chat with Franklin so much we left later than intended. The concept of having breakfast at one table with the rest of the guest is really good, we heard lots of interesting stories and met great people. Franklin knows the area like his own pocket, so can provide loads of advice how to best explore the Mullerthal
There are some basic snacks and drinks available in the fridge for a very reasonable price. Tea and coffee making set is also available.
I would not look elsewhere when in the Mullerthal again.

Great location for walking in Mullerthal region, also reachable with public transport (from airport/Luxembourg city). There are also good bus connections to other cities. Tasty breakfast. Room+bathroom are very big and spacious. Would love to stay there for longer time.

Very nice and friendly staff! It was a large room, clean and a nice bed. Breakfast was good, with very fresh products.
The restaurant served also very high quality food and it is a nice place to stay for hiking in the nature!

Echternach, if not the entire t of Luxembourg, is an...
Echternach, if not the entire t of Luxembourg, is an underrated gem. Being English we barely heard a single country person and you are really missing out! If you love the outdoors I couldn't think of a better place to come. Public transport is entirely free and very easy to navigate with the brilliant app mobiliteit.lu. We went on trains, buses and trams entirely free the whole time. It is very easy to set off from Echternach on a bus then walk all the way back, or just do a loop then return back to base. The Mullerthal trail app again is really helpful to find out what walks are in each area - app.mullerthal.lu. But you could just walk directly from Echternach and our youth hostel.
The Hostel was set on the lake. There was a climbing wall, bike hire, walks and swimming lakeside. A huge adventure playground with toilets, a Roman villa, a great restaurant - all within minutes. Two supermarkets, one close to the lake and the other in the town gave plentiful options for food. The town is very attractive and has a long pedestrian street with outstanding restaurants (if you love Sushi go to Wangs, it was out of this world).
It's a simple hour trip from Luxembourg city so could be done in a day but that wouldn't do it justice. You could also get to Trier in Germany (amazing city!) in about 45 minutes if a city trip was your thing. You should go!

Berdorf is my favorite go-to location if I wanna go on a hiking weekend. It's about a three hour drive from where I live, so very doable for a weekendtrip. The entire Echternach region in beautiful (check out the Mullerthal Trail), but the region around Berdorf is especially beautiful. The forests around Berdorf all have those typical rock formations with stairs and ladders, little chasms etc that really make it so much more interesting than a normal forest hike. The town itself is very small and is really just meant to spend the night in between two days of heavy hiking.

Amazing location to explore the Mullerthal Trails and the nearby Grun Holle. Beautiful mossy forrests. Great amenities including sauna and indoor pool. Friendly and efficient staff. I would have loved a week here.

Bollendorf is in a nice setting but the town has few facilities, and speaking to locals it appears much of the tourist business has been damaged by a combination of COVID lockdowns and the devastating floods in 2021.

Beautiful gem in Luxemburg.
Beautiful gem in Luxemburg. Tiny, narrow streets of old town are astonishing. Colorful, clean, plenty of flowers. A place to enjoy. Parking is free from 6pm to 8 pm. Supermarket Cactus in walking distance from the old town.
