NetherlandsWe came to Hotel Playa Laguna Front to unplug, relax, and enjoy the lagoon -- and that's exactly what we did for 5 days. The hotel is in a prime location, sitting at perhaps the most colorful, swimmer-friendly part of the lagoon. You can tell it's a prime spot because a lot of boat tours end around this area to let people swim in the lighter waters there near the cenote. It's also only a couple kms from the town center, so you can easily get into town while still having enough distance from the more touristy center. The hotel itself isn't a fancy upscale place, but that's not what we were looking for. Nonetheless the hotel is new and the facilities are clean/modern with great bathrooms. The hotel is run by a lovely team who were really accommodating...big thanks to the manager Evaristo for always being there to help with any questions.
Another great thing is that the kayaks and sup-boards are free to use from 6am to 6pm. The only day you can't use them is on Wednesday when no water activities (other than swimming) are allowed across the lagoon. Wednesdays are conservation days, with inactivity allowing the lagoon to restore itself.

The reception and restaurant/bar staff were genuinely excellent — professional, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. Their warmth made the stay feel personal and easy, and we really appreciated the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere throughout the property.
The on-site restaurant offers great food and drinks in a lovely lakeside setting, perfect for watching the colors of Bacalar’s lagoon change through the day.
A place that combines natural beauty with attentive service — highly recommended.

We were atracted by the pictures on Booking, but when there, we got astonished by the place. The place is brand new, opened just over a year ago, and so you notice because everything is new, modern, with an attention to detail to be pointed out, the arabic atmosphere merged with the tropical environment of Tulum stands this place up to one of the beautiest I've ever been.
We arrived quite late at night, but we were so impressed with the place that we couldn't but discover the place, quietly obviously, we don't wanted to bother noone, nor the turtles that were on breeding season (incredible experience as well).
During our walk through, we meet Julian, the person in charge at night how was willing to show us the place around and sharing some comments about its construction, surroundings and everything, it was so kind from him.
The room was beautiful, clean, with lots of space, a spatious bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower, a small terrace with a small private swimming pool, comfortble beds, every facilitie you may need, and all with so much detail and care for excellence.
To show the detail of the place, every rug on the place is perfumed to obtain a caractewristic aroma for the place, gel, shampoo, lotion are from Rituals, by the entrance, every room has a small sort of fountain, so you can remove the sand from your feet before entering the room.
They have three main areas to eat and drink, one next to reception room, an open space bar/restaurant just by the garden, a second one on a rooftop in front of the sea, coming with a swimming pool to chill, and las but not less important, the area placed just into the beach, Marvellous place, quiet, calm and relaxed to enojy the sound of the sea, or even walk into the sea, as you have direct access. Bear in mind that if you are an early bird, you could catch up some amazing pictures of the sunset by the ocean.

We had a wonderful 1-week family stay at Emporio! I was a bit confused with opposite reviews so didn't know what to expect, however our stay in Emporio was way beyond expectations! It was definitely the best value for money resort we've ever been to. Rooms were nice, clean and spacious, we had a beachfront family room on top floor (8th), the view was just spectacular! Restaurants were great, especially a la carte ones (Bacolli and Fasano) so make sure to reserve your seat (in person). There was a plenty choice of food in buffet restaurants for breakfast and lunch as well. Hotel beach was wonderful, I would say the most maintained within 3 km we've walked around, there is a beach bar where you can get drinks as well as order some snack meals to the beach, we've really enjoyed our time! We didn't use pools at all since the Caribbean sea was just out of this world, but they look nice and well maintained too, especially adults only one with the bar! Staff is also nice, they reallly work a lot and it's so many of them so you don't have to wait long for your service. Overall, wonderful experience!

Service: I spent one night at Papaya Playa Project in a beautiful Casita with a rooftop pool, and it was truly unforgettable. There is something about this place that captures the authentic soul of Tulum. The sound of the waves, the scent of the jungle, and the warmth of the people blend perfectly to create an atmosphere that feels both wild and deeply peaceful. Watching the sunrise from my rooftop pool felt like witnessing the world come alive. The sea in front of me, the palm trees swaying in the breeze, and the soft rhythm of nature all around me created a feeling of pure magic.
What I loved most about Papaya Playa Project is its energy. It is not just a hotel; it is a place that makes you feel part of Tulum itself. Everything here feels genuine, earthy, and real. It is a space to disconnect from everything and reconnect with yourself.
My stay was short but soul-stirring. I left feeling renewed, inspired, and with a piece of this beautiful place forever in my heart.

I had booked a room and was looking for something closer to the beach was offered the help since before I got there by Kelly she was exceptionally awesome and the bus boy Kevin was amazing he made our stay even ever we didn't want to leave!Everyone was so nice with kindly manners and kept the place looking nice and sharp.Will be back soon and we will recommend this place to anyone traveling to Cancun!!

The hotel is amazing as the staff, the food is really good . I highly recommend this hotel. The bonus is the club kids, my son loved everything there. I also did 2 excursosions ( Chichen itza and Isla Mujeres, and both were perfect, the staff super friendly, all the time asking if we want something to drink, the excursion for chichen itza I loved it, they guys guides have a lot of knowledge.

We had a very warm welcome by the host. I was sick and she prepared immediately a lime-salt-water drink to feel better which was greatly appreciated by me. Fortunately I was cured the day after.
On first sight the bed was very small but when you enter the tube it was much better. Airco worked perfectly and we slept really good. It’s perfect for a stopover!

Cancun itself was a wonderful destination. The beaches were stunning—clean, bright, and perfect for relaxing or exploring. Everywhere we went, the customer service was excellent, and we felt secure at all times during our stay. Prices were fair and actually a little lower than what you’ll find in many other tourist spots. If you love the beach and want a beautiful place to unwind, Cancun is definitely worth visiting.

Nobody tells you about the toxic tap water which is contaminated with sea water and definately not fit to drink. Hotels apparently don't seem to care in not providing water treatment and do not supply bottled waterunless paid for. Some really good affordable restaurants in town. It is rather a dirty, rubbish strewn town and is more expensive for everything than say Puerto Vallata and other popular coastal locations. Both the airport and train station are brand new but lacking a lot of facilities. We will be returning to Mexico again but not Tulum, most disapointing.

though we were at the seasonal end of the Rainy season the roads did flood. The Hotel is far from the city center and are not walkable during certain times. taxi four wheelers at 200 pesos on way. Mangroves and rain make for flooded passages. We rented a bikes to get around however the puddles were too deep to get through. You do need GPS many options of getting to and from the hotel in Coco beach area.
taking the weather in stride we enjoyed our 5 night stay in Holbox. There were great sunny periods and walked the beaches, sat under palapas, swam, and walked the sand bars at low tide, Coco beach and Mosquito. This place is what Tulum must have been 30 years ago. There is plenty of development/construction here and if you want to beat the commercialism it is time to go now, Luv it woud go back in a flash. I will go back. We found the best vegan vegetarian place Artes Sona a must.

It’s a tiny town, best to get around with a car but taxis are available too. It has a proper Caribbean vibe and the lagoon is just fantastic - really clean, warm and sweet water. We also enjoyed the food at La Playita restaurant.

If you love the sea, snorkeling and diving this is the right place for you. Fabulous sea world and fun divers brother/sisterhood.
The island is also visited by many big cruise ships and that changes the intimate feel of some locations when those ships are inn.

My personal view is that it is a great place to meet singles, and young singles from many parts of the world and also I saw many seniors and join the place. A little bit full of visitors. Where did we eat food that we ate many places we don't remember for

Puerto Morelos is a laid-back little beach town away from the busy-ness of Cancun, and easy to access. A friendly vibe and lots of inviting restaurants (check out Peninsula and King Taco!) and a handy supermarket. A perfect springboard for our trip inland into the Yucatan.

My FAVORITE cenotes were at Sac Actun and Ecopark Kantun Chi. Sac Actun requires a guide, but it's not as expensive as some of the other places. The cenote is beautiful and they provide you with wetsuits (which helps a LOT with the cold) and goggles. It was a very cool experience. Ecopark Kantun Chi has 5 cenotes but we bought the entrance that allows you to go 4 of them without a guide. For us, this was perfect because we could spend as much time as we wanted at each spot and they were all so different and beautiful. I loved #3, which was an open sky cenote with a waterfall and #4, which was a really cool cave with spots where the sunlight streamed in from above. We got to see some lobsters there too. Also a very cool feature is that there are kayaks in several of the cenotes so you get to explore them that way as well. Another cool spot was Languna Yal Ku where we got to snorkel in calm water and see so many different types of fish. I highly recommend wearing clothing that covers your arms and legs since sunscreen isn't permitted and you are directly exposed to the sun the whole time. For meals, we enjoyed traveling to both Akumal Pueblo (for some simple and cheaper meals) and Akumal Playa on the other side of the road for some more variety.
