The location of the hotel was an ideal one, just 2 minutes walk from the buzzing Thamel street inside a relatively calm & quite lane. The ambience was very good, rooms were clean & tidy, the complementary breakfast was excellent in terms of taste, quality & variation. Such friendly and helpful hotel staff! They helped me check and call my tourist bus to make sure I had the right location and when they found out I was leaving early, the opened the breakfast dining room an hour early to make me something to eat. Also hot showers!! Which I was told is rare in Nepal so HUGE win for that especially in Autumn.

The dedication of the staff, the rooms, and the facilities were perfect. I stayed at the hotel for more than two weeks and did not encounter a single issue – which, in Nepal, says a lot about the exceptionally high standards of Barahi. Besides my room, I made use of all the facilities, such as the permanent internet connection (for my work), the restaurant, the swimming pool, and the bar. All were very clean and well maintained. The breakfast and menu are very diverse, offering both local and international dishes, all prepared to a very high standard. The service is something you will truly miss when staying at another hotel chain. The rooms themselves are perfect; the bathroom and beds were spotless, and the air conditioning worked flawlessly (which is also quite unique in Nepal). What impressed me even more was the high level of involvement from the management. They knew I was staying at the hotel for a longer period and often checked in to ensure everything was to my satisfaction. Their commitment, and their energy to make Barahi live up to what they themselves call “the highest standard in Nepal,” is something they genuinely deliver on. I was even invited by the management (Mr. Sunil) to visit another Barahi-location in the mountains (Sarangkot). This is also a fantastic place, further away from the city, which I would certainly consider for a future holiday to relax and enjoy.

Loved everything about The Kathmandu Guest House, it's no wonder it's so famous. A respite from the hectic Street life, yet in the centre of everything. Beautiful room with balcony ( I was upgraded) lovely lobby to relax in, beautiful gardens, outdoor and indoor restaurant. So many little places to relax in. The service is amazing, everyone makes you feel at home. Exceptional staff. Although it's quiet you are still only 15 mins walk from Durbar Square. Plenty of taxis right outside the gates to take you to Boudhanath etc. Travel desk in the hotel for longer trips. Beautiful gallery on site, rooftop bar, gift shops.

Kathmandu is bustling and alive, with plenty of trekking shops that offers Excellent gear at an excellent price, you will find EVERYTHING you need here. Durbar Square is cool, and if you can handle it the Pashupatinath Temple on the banks of Bagmati River - Crematoria is worth a visit. Restaurants overall are pretty good offerring a wide range of Western, Nepalese and Indian Cuisine. The shopping for local crafts and Cashmere are Great... .

I had four days there and used the time to hike up to...

I had four days there and used the time to hike up to hilltop temples and do some kayaking on the lake. The south side of the lake is much quieter and pleasant walking in the shade of the trees. I was shocked at the amount of litter on the lakeside path by Pokhara. It’s no worse than anywhere else in Nepal but seemed such a shame at an attractive holiday place next to a watercourse. I wish I had taken a bag and collected litter for half hour a day, odd as it would have looked.

Despite our delay, the owner waited for us until midnight, helped us with the check-in, and arranged everything we needed for the trek and our visit to the national park. I am an architect working in Heritage Preservation and have worked in the past in Nepal so I can say that Bhaktapur is the best preserved city in Nepal and an outstanding example of a community living their traditions and therefore aware of their own culture identity. It is a city who h teaches everyone how to respect and preserve our own cultural heritage, to be seen at least one in the life!

Value for money ,service oriented , the Bhutanese delicacy was amazing , very traditional and authentic touch. Front office team was amazing and always helpful and welcoming. The room was beautiful, spacious and all amenities placed tightly. The location is perfect close to Boudha stupa just walking distance and very peaceful and serene. An exciting, vibrant city full of interest, lovely people...

An exciting, vibrant city full of interest, lovely people and good food. Felt very safe. Also very cheap, £20 a night for two people in a good hotel. In Pokhara, after a twelve day trek we stayed in the smartest hotel I’ve every stayed in, right posh it was, pool, sauna, massage, etc all for £60 a night for two people. Napal generally is a very good option for holiday. While the initial flights are expensive, fly via Delhi takes about 13 hours and costs roughly £1000, once you’re there it’s very cheap with lots to do. Best suited for those people looking for an active holiday trekking, guided mountaineer, water sports, mountain biking, and temple ticking. A European holiday from Europe is cheap to get there but food and accommodation are expensive. Napal is expensive to get there but very cheap once you’re there. I’m 67 years old, this trip was my swan song my final big mountain exploit ! Well stuff that, it’s fired me up, I’m going back next spring, thanks Nepal.
