The property and the house are just beautiful everything is so clean and looks fantastic. You will enjoy your stay there from the first second you arrive until the last minutes when you have to leave. We would highly recommend this place as it was the best experience in New zeeland!!! The rooms are so pretty and the beds are very comfy. The breakfast is outstanding with nice fresh homegrown vegetables and fruits. The outsight is a paradise for children with the fireplace, the spa and the tennis court and not to forget the chickens.

We loved our stay in Paihia Dilphin Motel. The motel is within walking distance of the center of the town, but in a quiet area. The apartment was clean and tidy, the kitchen is well equipped. The bathroom had a toweldryer, which was a plus. A lot of birds live in the area, it was nice to wake up to birdsong in the morning.

Nice and clean. Swimming pool was warm in November. Right across the road from the beach. Big spacious bathrooms. Well equipped kitchen.
Cruise to the hole in the rock and the stop at Urupukapuka Island on the way back was a highlight of the trip.

We love the place, lots to do, close to the beach/river park for kids lots of food options our family decided to buy takeaways on one night and ate on the beach, we stayed at the Bay of islands Holiday park and didn’t really need to organise activities as our venue hit the spot with a swimming pool, great kids park, volley ball and cool BBQ and Pizza oven area

I love everything about Russell.
I love everything about Russell. It is such an iconic place, full of history. I actually met a lady walking along the beach whose forebearers had built the The Duke of Malborough. The shops have so many wonderful things to offer and the people so friendly and helpful. Apart from The Duke of Malborough which always sets the highest standard in their restaurant which produces incredible food, I must mention Hone’s Garden. The pizzas are outstanding and mixed with a craft beer and friendly staff it’s not hard to see why it is always our first port of call. They have managed to create a laid back, island vibe surrounded by tropical plants. Just in front of Hone’s is The Gables, a fabulous Italian Restaurant. The Lamb Ragu with home made pasta again is exceptional. You would go along way to find three amazing places all within walking distance with views to die for.
In terms of boat trips, we can heartily recommend The Hole in the Rock. Our last two lots of visitors thoroughly enjoyed this experience and the added bonus of seeing dolphins and a shark. Just remember to wear something warm as can be a bit cold depending on the weather. Well worth it though!

This was a lovely place to stay.
This was a lovely place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and everything we needed was provided. It was a real treat to stay here.
We visited the Treaty Grounds, just down the road for a cultural and historical education. We hiked to waterfalls and mangrove forests. We caught the car ferry and visited Russell on the coast.

Paihia is a must for North island travel. the bay of islands...
Paihia is a must for North island travel. the bay of islands is spectacular we did the hole in the rock tour and say main dolphins and the sea was bubbling with trevally. The swell was a little big to go through the hole but no issue.
The ferry to Russell is well worth the 10 minute ride and Russell is a very small to interesting town which you can easily walk in an hour.
The Duke of Marlborough is a highlight for a drink or lunch, you'll likely need to book ahead especially if you want a terrace seating.
Paihia is a great location for 3-4 days to set as a base and do day trips from. There are a few dinner options along the main esplanade. the room we stayed in had a kitchen which made dinner easier for us.
I'd also recommend the Stone House in Keri Keri for a visit and some morning tea.... And if you have a car the Mangonui fish shop has great fresh and chips with a good view and a beer for lunch..

Kerikeri is an attractive small town with lots of lovely trees and gardens especially beautiful at this time of year.
There are a number of cafe’s and restaurants in Kerikeri some of which we visited definitely recommend Black Cat for breakfast and Thai for dinner.
Lots of place to go walking and sight seeing.

Do yourself a favour and stay for a few days at this wonderful place. There are so many walks, and lots of beautiful spots to explore. It would be a shame to limit yourself to the main street.
The museum and the French Printery are certainly worth a visit, as is getting up to the top of Flagstaff Hill and having a coffee from the van on Long Beach.
The 4 Square shop is well stocked and reasonably priced if you are self catering.

Paihia is a lovely little town.
Paihia is a lovely little town. The shopping area and restaurants are great. We especially enjoyed Charlotte's Kitchen and Zane Grey's, both on the wharf. The Woolworth's is a well stocked grocery store for such a small town.
Russell is a gorgeous little town just a short ferry ride across the bay. Be sure you check out the Seaside (one of the best meals of our trip and great staff!) We also enjoyed our drinks on the deck of the Duke of Marlborough.
The tour to Hole in the Rock was well worth it. The scenery was beautiful and the history was really interesting.

Your in a perfect spot where you can embrace nature and enjoy a beautiful spa and a cold swim with so much peace. It was perfect for our family that come from the busy and loud city of Auckland where peace is so hard to find. This place hit the spot.

I have been to Russell a couple of times before but only as day visits so to be honest Ive only stayed in the little township itself but loved that.
This time I stayed a night to attend a function.
The motel was the icing on the cake because where you stay can make or break a stay anywhere. The view of the harbour below with boats anchored..you couldn't beat. I want to come back..and my friend and I intend to. It's handiness was great.
Great afternoon of shopping..something for everyone & delightful 'The Grazing table' cafe for home cooked sweets with delicious coffee. Would have liked to spend more time in the fabulous looking book store..great looking coffee table books on display but I ran out of time. There is something for everyone here.
Russell town can easily be walked around in a short time without stopping..but who wants to do that. It's a lovely, interesting quaint place with a lovely harbour looking over to Paihia where you go to connect to main highway..eventually. A day passenger ferry runs regularly from Paihia & to.
There are other areas to visit over the hill and the car ferry over from Opua is very quick and efficient.
And least but not forgotten..the fantastic Duke of Marlborough hotel and accomodation with its elegance gracing the shoreline is a highlight. I had a lovely evening supportng the Recuse Helicopters fundraising event..it was spent under gorgeous chandelier lighting with all the simple but lovely table settings. Surely a grand gentleman which began in 1827 as 'Johnny Johnsons Grog Shop' by an ex convict come good!
