At first look the bright yellow exterior is interesting but let it not deter you from a really well run property.
Belinda is thorough, attentive, prompt and efficient. Thank you for our warm welcome, super clean rooms and the magnificent view of the marina. We really appreciated how well kept and neat our rooms were. The beds were so plush and comfortable and air-conditioning perfect. Loved that the rooms had SkyTV.
Our stay included breakfast and I must say that in all my travels around Aotearoa, this was one of the neatest, most thoughtfully laid put motel breakfasts. It was simple but fresh and the note to GF eaters like myself was truly appreciated.
Definitely a property we will recommend or be back at when in Nelson next.

Always a pleasure to stay at the Bella Vista. Even though it's on a main road, you don't hear the traffic. Facilities are great, fabulous water pressure, clean, tidy, comfortable bed and pillows. Just a joy to stay.

Oh wow we just loved it!! The sun deck, nice clean rooms, the bed was so comfy, we had a great kitchen and could cook. And then being so close to the beach was fantastic!

Had intended to visit Farewll Spit but disappointed to find...
Had intended to visit Farewll Spit but disappointed to find that it involved a day trip and you could not use your own vehicle...tour bus only.
This means you need to stay close to Collingwood or face a very long day to catch the tour bus.
Would recommend the trip from Nelson to Collingwood but allow 2 - 3 days for that alone.
We stopped at most townships & included the Pou Pou fresh water lake. Well worth the visit.
Went to the market in Motueka. Had a pizza & coffee for lunch. Can I just say a m a z i n g!!!

This place was not actually in Stoke but Richmond.
This place was not actually in Stoke but Richmond. However there is a path where you can walk to Stoke in at about 45 minutes. Richmond has many shops and supermarkets. Stoke has two supermarkets and a few shops.

I love Nelson.
I love Nelson. Stayed out near Tahuna Didn't visit the city, but the area around Tahunanui has good restaurants and bars and the beach and surrounds are lovely and relaxing. Good spot. I also visited the classic car museum. If this is your thing, it is $20 well spent.

there primarily for work but scored a bonus free day when planes were cancelled and i finally had a chance to see a little more. Nelson is a very pretty and varied city with good shops, lots of beautiful art, parks and gardens. the wider area has miles of coast and water to explore, as well as rugged wild walks nearby.
