Normally I don’t write any reviews, not for booking, any other hotel/b&b/etc. visits or any other reviews for that matter. But the visit at Winehouse Oton Reya (which is actually the name of the winemaker) was so special that it would feel wrong not to write a review. We’ve been visiting Slovenia with a group of four people; my best friend, his girlfriend, my fiancé and myself. One of our latest visits was Winehouse Oton Reya, which is located very close to Smartno. Once we arrived we could at first not find anybody at the appartment. A few minutes later we heard voices coming from downstairs. That is where I met Oton. Oton was busy with mashing the grapes, the first step in wine making, after harvesting the grapes of course. During our visit (mid September) it was time to harvest and process the grapes for wine production. Oton showed us his wonderful appartment with two spacious two person beds, one on the first floor and the second on the second floor, accessible via a designer stairs. Besides the nice bedrooms the appartment also has a big open shower, which was the first we’ve seen so far during our trip. After the tour Oton said he would be back for check in in 30 minutes so he could finish processing of the grapes first. Half an hour later we did the check-in and for the remainder of the night we sat outside on the porch with a fantastic view on the vineyards down on the valley. The next morning I’ve asked Oton if it was ok if I could help him with his work on the vineyard. After a short moment of doubt he said sure why not. Oton, myself, his workers and a neighbouring friend (Timon, owner of Vila Eva Olive Oil) jumped on the tractor and drove to the vineyards for harvesting the Rebula grapes. Oton teached me what good and bad (sour/mouldy) grapes look like so I knew how to properly harvest and collect the good grapes.

The owner Eva is very nice, helpful and smiling. The place is fantastic, a little jewel box, and the surroundings are wonderful. The breakfast is sumptuous, and if you're really interested in the area - wine tourism is what brought us here - it's a great advantage that all the places to visit are close by, because the whole area - as they call Brda-Collio - is very much in one. It's a bit a hidden gem, ... you need to find it (at least we have seen no sign)! When there it's really nice, ... one feels very welcome and it is a relaxing place. Rooms are big enough and the beds are quite comfortable. The breakfast is delicious and offers quite an variety on a high quality level. The owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Dinner there is really nice and just sitting on the terrace in the evening with a bit of wine, cheese and bread was nice as well.

The location is great. You can park in the town square and have a 1 min walk. The property is beautiful, very private, great big room. Very clean. Pool is just as you need it. You have amazing view on Brda- town Biljana straight ahead when you are sipping on a coffee. The breakfast options are all you need. The both ladies were so nice and they are really hard workers. I would highly recommend visiting this place.

We had an amazing stay at Zoi Apartments in Goriška Brda, often called the "Slovenian Tuscany." Luca, the host, was incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Our No. 5 apartment offered a breathtaking private view of the vineyards and rolling hills, and the ample parking space made everything convenient (we arrived with a bigger van). Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway!

We are already longing for returning one day. We spent a great time in the house. The hosts were very welcoming, the view is amazing, the garden with the tables, chairs is perfect for relaxing there with friends. The wines of the house are excellent, too.

Beautiful luminous room looking over the vineyards and the snowcapped mountains. Spacious bathroom, towels available, heating, beautiful balcony.
