One of my favourite stays of my trip. The property manages to combine hotel luxury with a soul. It attracted all different age groups from all walks of life. The communal breakfast brings everyone together and, as an older backpacker, it was great getting to know my fellow guests. And as far as breakfast is concerned, the spread every morning is better than you could imagine. Maria herself was always very warm, friendly and welcoming to all her guests. She has created a great environment in which to visit Tongatapu.

Tufui absolutely made our trip, she took us to her local Church with her (we asked her to take us) and she even took us to her brother’s house when there was a tsunami warning and made sure we were safe. She looked after us so well and is the most welcoming and hospitable person. She is also great for local recommendations. The house is very clean and very comfortable, nice hot shower and comfy bed. It has toaster, kettle, fridge and a hob with utensils to make some food/ tea & coffee if you want to. The property is close to the waterfront and the palace.

A great stop over for connecting flights to the outer islands of Tonga. Loved the blow hole coast, good idea to hire a car to get around. The central market is worth checking out for fresh fruit, veg and craft. The Seaview Lodge Restaurant was our favourite place to eat. Wanted to try the Korean restaurant too but it wasn't open on the dates we visited.

It's a small place, but there is variety of experience here - the vibrant market, the port area with street vendors, restaurants and 'fishing pigs', the very popular Friends restaurant, open all day and evening and serving good food, reasonably priced ...the more you look, the more you find!

Nuku’ alofa isn’t set up for tourism.

Nuku’ alofa isn’t set up for tourism. They don’t really understand what customer service means or they just don’t care. While the other islands are beautiful the mainland has very little to offer in terms of interesting experiences.
