My stay was exceptional! As many reviewers have mentioned, it’s the staff that truly make this place special, especially Jason (okay… and the incredible views and the suspension bridge!).
Jason was friendly, efficient, and attentive even before I left home. Travelling alone after working in Taiwan for three weeks, I was really looking forward to a short break, and he made me feel as though I was visiting a friend. It was exactly the rest I needed.
Jason arranged my pickup and drop-off at Miaoli HSR with ease, and even asked the driver to take a slightly longer route so I wouldn’t have to haul my big suitcase across the bridge.
The facilities were functional and clean. I stayed in a suite, and the private amenities were perfect for me. The shared facilities also looked great, and the whole place had a relaxed, friendly vibe.
When I left, Jason (along with the general manager) came to see me off, even though it was his day off. They literally waved me on my way back to Scotland.
In an AI-driven world where hotel apps and self check-ins often replace real interaction, these genuine human moments mean so much. This isn’t high-end glamour, but it’s something better: the very best of Taiwanese hospitality set against a beautiful mountain backdrop.

The main attraction for my family is the Rail Bike, there...
The main attraction for my family is the Rail Bike, there are 3 route to venture. Do take note of different start point location for these ride. There is a Flying Cow farm which we missed due to lack of time. We wanted to take a tour to Yulon car manufacturing factory but is closed for that day.

Some lovely parks to visit.
Some lovely parks to visit. The Gongweixu tunnel and its surrounding Maolishan huge park is well worth a days visit. Likewise the walking or biking trail along the river is great. There is a lot of other view points and treks to be had around the area. Great place to stay for a few days.

Good value for enjoying the hot spring and beautiful nature. Breakfast is of good quality served in a great view area. Spa area should open early in the morning so that guests can enjoy before breakfast. TV screen can be adjusted to turn around for viewing convenient.

A quiet town, there isn't much to do here other than the sleepy seaside. But we love the friendly, slow vibe and always have great food and drinks at "Super Duper" that we can take to the beach and watch the sunset. SPOT is also a wonderful place to meet friends and take surfing or kite surfing lessons! Very chill, not fancy, but sometimes that's just what you want!

Recommend doing a day trip to Lions Head Mountain to see the Guang Ha temple and the surrounding ones!
Local food in Gongguan is good and it was nice to be in a town that was less hectic than the big cities !
