Everything perfect in this hotel, starting with staff: all sectors, receptionists, restaurant/bar staff, housekeeping. Not only friendly and helpful but really efficient and supportive. Room was impeccably clean (no carpets but modern flooring!) and quiet despite central location (two minutes walk to the railway station). Service was excellent despite high affluence due to tourist groups and weekend. Complimentary, rich supper buffet and afternoon snacks including a well groomed ice-cream bar plus coffee/tea/juices for free. Ample choice for breakfast, both western and eastern style. A heartfelt recommendation if you stay in the area!

Convenient place to stay if you want to travel to Taroko gorge. From Xincheng you can take a 10min bus to the entrance of the park and beat the crowds to do Shakadang at 7am. The room is basically a cabin inside a hotel so it feels like you’re in a hotel. Everything is clean, fancy, and modern. You can enjoy all the facilities of a hotel (except the pool). There are only 4 beds in the dorm which is great and I was completely alone on my first night there.

The staff were extremely helpful, warm and friendly. From getting us into our rooms early, making extra phone calls to help us locate a local growing some macaw plants, to making sure we had all the refreshments and breakfast items we needed, everyone seemed genuinely interested and invested in our happiness. The decor was natural and tasteful, elegant while homely. Beautiful views, convenient to both the small older part of town and Taroko. Super delicious breakfast with some homemade jams. Natural eco soaps.

Lovely little hotel in the centre of Hualien, the staff are very friendly and there’s even free snacks, water and coffee available at the reception. The room itself was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. It came with a kettle and some tea, clean, bedding and towels and the Aircon worked well. The Internet was exceptionally fast and I was able to work online, the rooms were very soundproof.

We really enjoyed our stay at Before Sunrise B&B. Everything was very clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Jane was so welcoming and friendly. It's easy to see why this property is so highly rated. We were given a list of the best food stalls to visit at the nearby Dongdamen Night Market - which were all SO good! The air-conditioning in the room was great (it was so hot during our visit and the room stayed nice and cool). Waka the Hotel dog is also very cute and loves a pat. The breakfast was amazing! A selection of tea, coffee, juices and freshly prepared meals which were different each day. We had to leave earlier one morning for a trip to Taroko Gorge and they were kind enough to pack our breakfast to take with us so we didn't miss our bus. Thanks so much for making our visit to Hualien so memorable. We'd love to come back and visit again.

Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about Taroko area. -Facility I love duck pool. I came back to this hotel because of duck pool !! Of coz indoor hor water swimming pool and rooftop hot water pools are very good and we have great time. -Activities Hotel arrange many kinds of activities like rooftop live music, movie night etc. You can have good music, good food . -Buffet Breakfast buffet is my most favourite and I sure back for that .

Enjoyed the stay. Only one night, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. They quickly helped give me directions for parking, suggestions for the night market, were proactive to open the elevator doors and answer my questions. Their service was fast and it seems like the hotel really takes care of its guests. I traveled with a young kid, so the children's playroom with slide was especially nice to have. There wasn't a lot in the playroom but my son still loved it. Also booked a separate room for my mother, and she finally could get a good nights rest after being jetlagged from a long flight. Highly recommended for families visiting Hualien.

Sleepy scenic town with some really cool cafes and restaurants. Airy , non crowded night market with lots of games and options for food. Even without Taroko fully open after the earthquake , Hualien is a great stop over for the scenic East Coast of Taiwan.

It's a tiny town with fewer restaurants to choose from...

It's a tiny town with fewer restaurants to choose from comparing to HuaLiang which is 18KM south of XinCheng. But, this town is also 18 KM closer to Taroko National Park. I highly recommend "Memories Homestay" for your overnight accommodation. It has the best CP value.

The owners of Ubus B&B 箼篰斯民宿 are some of the nicest people I have met in Taiwan and I already lived here for little over a year. She and her friend are local Taroko natives. The second that we entered her B&B she gave us drip coffee and steamed bamboo with rice. I took my partner and my mom here, they both loved how comfortable the place is. We booked the two double bed (around 4545 NTD, a little over 130), but it included breakfast and snacks. Not only that, but she took both my partner and I to Taroko Shakandang Trail, picked us up on the way back, waited for us to get food at 7/11, AND the following day took us to the train station out of pure kindness. Since we had to leave early we did not have breakfast, so she gave us a bit of money back covering the breakfast! Its been a long time since I met someone with that amount of kindness. The day that we left, my partner forgot her apple watch, and the NEXT DAY she sent via mail to our place. She never asked for money in return and we are grateful. Definitely coming back some time in the future. The facility is clean, the shower is big and comfortable, the kitchen has all types of utilities (air fryer, microwave, coffee makers, wifi, etc). I highly recommend this place since its not only accommodating, but right NEXT to Taroko National Park. Amazing experience.

This is my second visit to Hualien City.

This is my second visit to Hualien City. It was good to get to know the area better. Although I spent the majority of my time at Dong Awa University, I was able to visit the Stone Museum and the Slow Food centre.

Our interest was in travelling up the Taroko Gorge.

Our interest was in travelling up the Taroko Gorge. Although spectacular, the access limitations imposed since the last major earthquake made our travel almost a non-event. Be aware, the visitor centre is closed, 2nd Monday each month, grrr.
