We enjoyed our 1-night stay in Gunnison & this was a good choice for our hotel. I work for an airline and stay in random hotels all over the USA every week & this was just as good as any major named hotel where we stay with my airline. The pool and jacuzzi were the cleanest ones I’ve seen & used in any hotel over the past few months. We stayed in a hotel in Aspen recently & the chemicals from the jacuzzi burned our eyes and the hotel said that that was normal and necessary for keeping it sanitary which isn’t true at all. The room was clean and bathroom was on the tiny side but not bad. The sink and counter with the mirror are outside of the bathroom so it didn’t matter that the shower /bath/ toilet space was small. Towels were not too thin or small which sometimes gets annoying in smaller hotels. These towels were decent. The beds were comfortable and pillows were decent too. It was cold & rainy so we didn’t need to try the ceiling fan but that would be great for people who don’t want to use air conditioning or like to have a fan on at night. Breakfast was basic but I rarely like hotel breakfast food in the USA so I’m a bit critical about it. The bacon was ok and the only thing I seem to like these days is the same exact waffle maker in so many USA hotels & they have it here too. I like making my own waffles. I need to start carrying a jug of Vermont maple syrup on me though because then they would be even better.

Hotel was very clean, staff super friendly and helpful. I had a King mini suite on the 3rd floor, high ceilings and room overlooked a prairie. Really nice roomy room, the IHG bedding is wonderful and comdy. Bed felt really clean and fresh, Keurig coffee maker Breakfast was excellant lots of choices nice to have eggs and sausage in addition to other choices. They had "to go bags". Staff super attentive to keeping breakfast area clean and stocked. Great area to sit and have breakfast. Location is great just on the edge of town so quiet, and a hiking trail behind hotel, yet just a 2 min drive to downtown. I will stay here and drive an extra 30-60 min to sight seeimg locations just to have the pleasure of staying here. Thanks to all the staff!

It is a great place to stay if you are looking for somewhere downtown with an easy access to take the bus to the slopes beside you can walk everywhere downtown. We appreciated the ‘storage’ for the ski up there. Tenants are really nice.

My only complaint was 5B's BBQ.

My only complaint was 5B's BBQ. I had the two meat plate of brisket and pulled pork with a side of coleslaw and beans. The portions were tiny and the McRib from Mickey D's is better BBQ. Also, the staff was not friendly. Favorite spots: Hartman Rocks, Marshall Pass, Dos Rios Golf Course, High Alpine Brewing Company.

Crested Butte is a fabulous OLD mining town (coal was originally mined here) which accidentally ended up next to a ski resort. The area is fantastic if you are looking for something not so VAIL and ASPEN. Great place to visit in the summer as well as the winter. There is much in the way of sightseeing, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking and all things outdoors. If you want to take a side trip or two while staying, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is less than 2 hours away and is an incredible place to behold. If you get an itch to see Aspen, you go up and over Kebler Pass from downtown Crested Butte (some of the road is gravel but the views are FANTASTIC) and you will be there in about 2 1/2 hours. If you are a mountain hiker, there are hikes that originate in Crested Butte or in the Aspen area of Maroon Bells which get you from one city to the other (and back if you really really really love mountain hiking). Many people hike one direction, spend the night and hike back the next day. Yikes.

Our reservation was incorrect from Booking.com to the lodge.

Our reservation was incorrect from Booking.com to the lodge. We reserved a pet friendly room and put in the notes that we had one dog. When we got to the hotel they said the reservation from Booking.com said no pet and no dog. The staff told us they were not any pet rooms left. They did fine a room for us. Very frustrated at Booking .com.

Crested Butte is one of the few remaining historic ski towns in Colorado, as yet uncluttered by NYC shopping areas, etc. A genuine mountain experience without all the ski bunnies. It is even better in the summer, although massive new residential development (post covid) is beginning to weigh on the authenticity of the area.

It was a pleasant, remote mountain community.

It was a pleasant, remote mountain community. We enjoyed seeing some of the scenery in the region and the downtown area and wish we could have stayed longer. We liked the fact that many businesses were open past 5 which isn't always the case in small communities. It would be interesting to see it in the winter. We enjoyed shopping and eating pizza at Secret Stash. It seemed to be the most popular eatery. The free live music at the museum was a nice touch. The man at the Chamber of Commerce was quite helpful.

Cute little spot. Was up there for work but have been going up there since I was a kid. Not a lot of fast food so be warned but lots there still if you enjoy the outdoors and the little mom and pop spots. Nice slower lifestyle that I prefer over the hustle and bustling of the city.

If you want to experience an old fashioned mining town that hasn't become "modern", then Crested Butte is the place. Every view looks like a post card and the temperature in the summer is wonderful. Crested Butte doesn't have a single stop light, just two four way stops. Our family has been to Crested Butte both in the Winter and Summer and we like them both. In the summer there is actually more things you can do and explore. And everyone you run into is happy and smiling. Nice.
